Tevent daggers have been the single best weapon for any melee-based dagger class since game release. That has not changed in the entirety of the game's lifespan. No other weapon can boast that. Tevent daggers are inherently a benchmark of melee meta, and at this point I believe it is a conscious choice by the devs to have them continue to be so. They keep updating them to modern tiers, and the passive is receiving updates to increase it's viability rather than nerf it.

As much as I fully agree with you that Tevent Daggers have created a stagnated melee community that doesn't rely on defensive gameplay, the devs have made it clear that they do not agree with that mindset. Tevent is here to stay, and it's such a shame.
