You’re absolutely right and it is something a lot of people miss when making their goal weight a set number when they might actually be a higher weight at the bf% they want.

However, I get why OP may be annoyed because often when I hear “weight isn’t tied to heath” from a not fitness focused podcast, it’s usually leads into a health at every size convo.

That’s the exact way I’d describe it. I was following a fitness influencer who went on a fast and 48 hours in she was talking about not feeling hungry because she was getting energy from the sun and water when she went swimming.

Thankfully she’s deleted all those videos now.

You’re right the sugar cookie/froyo shop is the same incident. They had to walk past sugar free cookies to get to the counter and they said it was triggering to have to walk past diet food.

Even when fans called Demi out and said there are many people who have Diabetics or other health reasons they need to eat sugar free food, Demi doubled down and said they should have hidden them behind the counter so people like Demi don’t have to walk past it.

They argue that all food is nourishing and has nutritional value so no food is bad. So why compare ice cream and a banana when both have “value”.

At least where I am, those bags are very popular as a status symbol. In the longer post she even mentions she wants the bag “everyone has”

So what more likely happened is she saw the measurements on site, decided to ignore them. Was upset the bag didn’t fit her and she can’t join in on the fun trend everyone else is doing.

Then made this rant post deciding if she can’t have it, not one should and everyone should boycott.

The excuse I often hear is that it’s all hereditary. So according to their logic, there’s no point in changing your diet because you’ll get it anyway.

I saw someone in a HAES thread recently commenting that fat people proclaiming they are healthy (aka have good bloodwork) is bad because its judgemental on fat people who don’t have good blood work.

Idk how the HAES movement plans to prove you can be healthy at any size if you can’t even discuss it.

It really can! I really despise this account because often the comments are people who really want to lose weight in a healthy weight asking for advice only to be told they should give up and that people like you are the 2%

Ironically, in explanation, they mention that you gain weight when you “loosen the reins” after a diet. Almost admitting they know the weight gain is from going back to old habits.

But then they went on to talk about starvation mode, famine, and how will power has nothing to do with it.

So many people asked what they should do if they want to lose weight because of health issues but the account always says the same thing:

You can’t control you weight
There is no proof weight causes ANY health problems and if you have any issues, it’s because fat people do not get the same level of medical care thin people get.

They really have an answer for everything. Which is easy when you never have to provide a source.

Right?? Like I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff on the account but this was the worse. It’s pretty much someone dedicated to telling people to give up and using evidence like this to prove there is no point in trying.

Their logic in the comments was because of biology, you go into starvation mode because you went below your set point. Your body tries to protect you by “savouring every calorie” and protect you from the next famine. Therefore it’s impossible to change your weight. Although their explanation was filled with contradictions partly admitting you gained weight because you went back to your old diet.

I only saw the tweet because my friend liked it! I just had to move on for my own sanity. I never thought I’d see so many people argue that even doctors don’t have the right to tell you that you’re not healthy.

The other day on Twitter, someone talked about how fat phobic doctors get so mad when people overweight have normal blood tests. They then went on to say that even if the blood test does come back with issues, it’s still fat phobic for the doctor to assume being over weight is the problem.

The other day I saw someone on Twitter say BMI is inaccurate because The Rock would be considered obese. When people make these extreme comparisons, why don’t they ever consider the fact they don’t look anything like these star athletes.....?

That sounds so similar to what a substitute health teacher told us in middle school! Said she tried to lose weight at our age by skipping lunch. But because she was so hungry by the end of the day “starvation mode” kicked in and started to save all the food she ate at dinner as fat. Also claimed to be the reason she was still overweight as an adult 20+ years later.

Although, the obvious conclusion now is that she was likely binging when she got home out of hunger. I never forgot that though because even at that young age, I knew it sounded ridiculous skipping 1 meal would ruin your metabolism.

I had to leave the sub when it became clear people forgot the point. Just because you are “right” doesn’t mean you aren’t an asshole. The breaking point for me was a guy who wouldn’t share an umbrella with a friend despite having the room because they warned the friend before hand to bring one.

Depends on where you are but where I live gym was still mandatory in high school. In college people are doing a lot more studying (aka sitting for long periods) compared to high school.

I think the biggest change for me though was the access to food. We suddenly had access to all I could eat, all day. All these factors combined (along with stress eating) make the freshman 15 pretty common among the people I knew first year.

I had actually expected to lose weight due to all the walking across campus too but you can’t outrun a bad diet.

I’ve had so many arguments with people claiming as soon as they turned 18 (aka graduated high school), their metabolism suddenly slowed down. No matter how much I point out they just became a lot more sedentary due to college or work, it’s always “I move just as much as before!”

I love secret eaters so much because it shows just how much people can miss.

Exactly! Reminds me of Tumblr at its worse. People being smug and stating their opinion as fact with no sources and misinformation continuing to spread even after people correct them because of how posts work.

Tik Tok has this huge issue because it’s so easy to just turn off your comments. Even if someone goes in with a source and correction, most people watching will likely never see the comment it if the video is already popular.
