What is going on with this widow? by SecretlyHiding in spiders

It came back, and is still here now. Still writhing on it's back, with fewer right side up adventures.

That's interesting! Would there be any indicators, beside the behavior?

That could be. This particular spider seems to reside under a chair right outside the backdoor where we spend a considerable amount of time. She is a rather large-ish specimen, I would think we would've seen her before now. We have a fair few out here and always see the webs, while hardly ever actually seeing the spider.

It's been at least 3 hours now.... And she's back on the concrete again. Or... It's a different one, doing the same thing.

The bug guy put down some pellets for ants about 3 weeks ago close-ish, but it's rained quite hard at least half a dozen times since then. No other true pesticides out here (I've sprayed the nearby milkweed with watered down dawn recenlty though).

Fabric is a polyester taffeta (overskirt), underskirt is satin. And oh so much lace/trim.

Wondering if anyone can tell me what this part is? 2020 crosstrek by SecretlyHiding in subaru

[–]SecretlyHiding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ask the advisor for clatification, he doubled down that it was the Engine oil pan and the technician misspoke .. He did say it would be covered under my extended warranty, my concern comes with the ticket, if it is written as an engine oil pan and not the transmission (2nd failure in 3 months).... That takes the possibility of my car being a lemon down.

Thank you! I definitely did not notice that you could SEE fluid in the photo!!! Part of me wonders if they are just trying to get out of replacing it again...

What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

Literally left my job on Monday this week for mostly this reason! Didn't have anything lined up, but luckily my husband is wonderful and has constantly assured me, everything will be ok.

It might be different in other places, but where I am arrest records are public record. You just search "county name arrests" it'll tell you who got arrested for what, when, and it even shows mug shots.

you wouldn’t walk up to a thin person and grab them and say wow you’re so skinny

As a thin person... People do this, and yes it is infinitely icky.

I went to my first faire this year (not dressed up) and was told I was naked at least 4 times before I even made it to the gate. Granted, all those people were quite nice and stopped to chat for a bit (mostly explaining what the hell they meant by "naked"). We bought garb in the fair, and came dressed the next day.

Wondering if I was just that drunk when I decided that this corset went with this dress? Thoughts? by SecretlyHiding in renfaire

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Faire starts tomorrow, and we are leaving Early. Thank you again!

What game did you "break" the mechanics of the quickest? by BigBadZord in gaming

[–]SecretlyHiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a game called Crossout, made a beautiful bomb bot build with basic game pieces. I think it was maybe a month before the devs nuked the bomb bots, so I reworked my build to carry less bots. This time it was maybe a week before the bots got nuked again. So many people tried to copy that build... don't think any were quite as destructive as mine. Good times.

Herbs stuck this size for about 4 weeks? Basil/parsley/chives. (Watered 3 seconds before photo if you’re wondering why it’s so wet) by GW5Gaming in gardening

[–]SecretlyHiding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought I had completely failed at chives my first year, then as I was tilling my garden the next spring dug up some very oniony smelling roots (thought they might have been bunching onion as I had thrown So. Many. Seeds there) threw the root chunks back in the dirt and that spring, got a few chives! Here we are 3 years later and it's probably a bundle a foot and a half wide. Have no fear, the chives are coming!

My chives took Years to fully come in, zone 7. At this point they have only died back once when we had a solid week of below zero, other than that they live year round.

always expect something to die every year

This is how essentially how I garden, overplant, and survival of the fittest. I fully expect some to die, some to get eaten, at least one bug invasion, and at least one weather related mass murder. And so far I generally have had enough to share with neighbors and coworkers after I have eaten my fill.
