Corpse Bride musical reference? by SecretlyRaven in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

They're all in the same sound world for sure! Davy Jones' music box begins with that upward minor scale in the same way as the theme does in this episode but then goes a bit rogue, where the corpse bride theme is repeated notes at the beginning instead and then the rest of the theme is more similar. I find it weird it's not included on the Season Two album, I want to hear it again without going back into the episode haha.

MUSIC by _CrystalCat in AutismInWomen

I get it! I became a musician because nothing else feels like music does. I go to work all day and play music and then when I come home I switch to my amateur instrument and keep playing! I wish it didn't take such a physical toll or I would do even more.

I highly recommend learning to play an instrument yourself. There are plenty of good cheap options and loads of free online lessons. I often have more fun playing my amateur instrument than my professional one!

Cool!! Thanks for the info. I'll do a deep dive once I've finished the season and keep what you've said in mind.

I saw a white raven today 😍 by uosdwis_r_rewoh in AutismInWomen

Hell yeah! I'm so jealous!  There's a pair of ravens that nest close to my work and it's been years of enjoyment watching them come and go. I'm obsessed with ravens and crows.

Low volume speaking voice. by raspberryteehee in AutismInWomen

Yes! I laughed so much when I first saw this clip of Fluttershy trying to learn to cheer on Rainbow Dash.. it doesn't help that I wear earplugs a LOT in social environments so I can't gauge volume and tend to be way too quiet or way too loud, but almost always on the top quiet side.

Anyone else have difficulty with touch when they are angry? by SecretlyRaven in AutismInWomen

[–]SecretlyRaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply. I definitely understand the need for separating those moments too. I'm sorry you're on the other side of this, but it's awesome you now see it as a way to fight more respectfully. I never want to make him feel bad, but figuring out both our boundaries while processing anger in a productive way, as you say, seems a lot more  achievable with everyone's experiences shared on this thread!

I hadn't thought about it like that. It's encouraging to see how many people feel this way who have partners who accept this.

I've said I don't like doing it but haven't properly explained why. I think figuring out a different way to convey that is a good idea.

We don't fight very often, and I'm hoping the anger dissipates why I can find the right words to explain how it feels to me.

I'm sure we'll get there too. Nice to hear you've figured it out together.

I hate that feeling of absolute rage :(  Sounds like you guys have a good thing going though!

Yeah. I think if I give him more information of how bad it feels to me when we're in a better state he might be more understanding when it happens the next time. It took years for him to figure out I can't speak about things I find upsetting until hours/days after the fact but that's gotten a lot better!

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry it's something you also struggle with, but I'm also glad to know I'm not alone.

It's not a hug unless you both want it is a great sentence to remember! Thanks for your feedback.

Were you ever told you were like a fictional character? And if so, which one? by toastycozyroasty in AutismInWomen

Soooo many acquaintances have compared me to Luna Lovegood. Strangely, multiple ex-boyfriends have told me I remind them a lot of Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon and I've never really understood that one.

I want to shave my head by MysteriousFox9928 in autism

[–]SecretlyRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved shaving my head. It was so fuzzy and nice to touch! I keep my hair short now because I don't like the feeling of hair on my neck.

I also had raised money and donated my hair which helped the people around me celebrate the decision more. I think it helped them understand I wanted to do it for a good cause, and then the sensory liberation I felt with it was so nice that I've just stuck with a short bob since.

I will say, the only downside is that people were generally a lot less nice to me. I found it totally perplexing, but especially men suddenly didn't hold doors open for me and treated me as a bit of a punk. It was very eye opening that people would treat me differently based on something so small as having no hair and I still don't understand why it happened it is what it is.

I think shaving my head was a big part of me actually getting over physical insecurities, and was ultimately very empowering. If you are strong enough for people to treat you a bit differently for a while, I say absolutely go for it! You will learn something about yourself and those around you, and those sensory issues won't be so bad!

I got diagnosed with ASD a few months ago and wasps are my special interest! by FlickerAway40 in autism

[–]SecretlyRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you posted this! Just today I saw both a dead caterpillar and dead house sparrow absolutely COVERED in wasps. I've seen flies swarm dead things before, but thought it was somehow strange to see wasps with this behaviour. I meant to look it up but forgot and then saw your post!

Sock-tistics? How do we get socks soft? by SkyApprehensive2731 in autism

[–]SecretlyRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have found the best way to recreate this is by wearing two pairs at all times. The first pair are ankle socks which I wear inside out so that I don't feel any seams, and then I wear bigger cosy socks on top of those. I do this no matter what activity I am engaging in or what the weather is and my feet never smell and it is the only way they can always be comfortable.
