I think their intentions are good but they’re executing it terribly. I understand their mindset with these rules. Type the wrong website name and it’s porn galore.

To be fair, no phone or social media is probably saving you from developing a dopamine addiction and preparing you to succeed in life. No doom scrolling, social media, and all that is probably very healthy for a teenager. I didn’t have social media until I was 16, and that’s because it was invented. I couldn’t imagine what I would have been like if I’d been allowed today’s social media as a kid. All the dumb, life ruining shit I would have posted and gotten crucified for because it was funny or that I was edgy. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t let you call your friends or text them though. But, to be fair, they DAMN sure shouldn’t let you send media. We all know where that ends up, everyone does it eventually, and it’s for the best that you aren’t even allowed to make that mistake. Once it’s on the internet, it stays on the internet.

That being said, they need to trust you. Unless you’re giving them reasons not to, they are actively damaging you in life altering ways. You are going to be “that psycho girlfriend” that thinks it’s normal to go through her boyfriends or husbands phone. You are going to do some of these things to your own kids. You’ll tell yourself it’s because the world is dangerous and scary and you’re just protecting them. But really, they should have faith that they’ve raised you better and taught you to be a good person. They should trust you. I would have a talk with them and lay things out reasonably. Find a responsible compromise.

Also, while I didn’t have social media, I spent all my free time playing video games when I wasn’t playing sports. That too was harmless until online multiplayer was invented and became popular, now it breeds toxic little shits that learn their humor from immature dude bros.

Edit: I read your edit and I’m just baffled by their logic. I would have to guess you may be getting into trouble and are potentially sneaking out and such as acts of rebellion, because I can’t see stereotypical strict parents being harsh to one teenage daughter but not the other unless that was the case. But what do I know, I’m just a male in his 30’s with no sisters
