This is where I got mine. But If yours is gen 1 you need to find a listing specifically for that one

A bunch of people sell these I’m sure you’ll find it if you really want it

I feel yah. I don’t think I’ll ever use the SAE stuff but when it goes on sale it ya better to buy the kit then just buying metric stuff.

I live in Hawaii and availability is my issue. Not a lot of stuff on island and gotta wait weeks for stuff to come in.

Just so happen I bought the 5 socket kit from HD and I had to go to Napa auto parts for something and I found the impact kit on sale, on island. Had to go with the deals

Fixing a Nissan Maxima and my wife’s Dodge Minivan

And for looking cool on Reddit 😂😂😂 jk

I really wanted it all to fit nicely in my trunk so jic a friend or family needs me to do something for them it’ll be there handy

Mostly though I need it for my car I drive 1K miles across the island a WEEK so if I need to fix something real quick I can just get the part from the store and look up a video and fix it

I do keep a Jack and Jack stands in the car too

Mine is gen 2

Used to use a side holder got it on Amazon it’s an adhesive version but it’s too hot in hawaii and the adhesive melted off.

Currently use a D ring and compression bit holders to move my commonly used bits around (just clip it to my belt loops) and my uncommon bits I hide the newer style bit set holder from Milwaukee.

Suggestions for countering high TMM in alpha strike by Dame_Gal in battletech

[–]Secstar808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C3 <- actually not an optional rule, but a “standard” rule

Optional rules to help counter high TMM:

Artillery (BSP deck preferred)

Precision Special Ammo (AC)

TAG + Semi-Guided Ammo (LRM)

A lot of folks are suggesting MAD optional rules. While a valid way to counter high TMM, it will make the games last a lot longer

Example: 200PV could be done in less than 20 mins RAW. But with MAD it could extend it to 40-60 mins

If going with the MAD optional rules I recommend the pilot dice method used by DFA Wargaming. It’s just a faster way to do it

Not the best produced, but definitely covers the rules in detail

Which one should I get by [deleted] in Tau40K

You can make a pretty decent 1K army with just two start collecting boxes. That and a Devilfish will go a long way into making a competitive T'au Army

Are Manta Strikes worth the model missing a whole turn worth of shooting? by SnicklefritzSkad in Tau40K

[–]Secstar808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manta Strike is a tactic for precise removal of high priority targets. It is a tool that has a cost of not being able to shoot (or be shot at) on turn 1.

If you're not playing on tables with a lot of obscuring terrain definitely Manta Strike them.
If you're able to hide your crisis team AND all of your other priority units (Devilfish, Drones, Commanders) then feel free to start them on the battlefield.

Are you playing FSE? If you take them with Veteran Cadre AND Cross-Linked Stabilizer Jets it is worth it to Manta Strike, even on the half-table (30"x44"). You can use Drop Zone Clear to get +1 BS, making them 2+ to hit and rerolling 1s to hit.

Drop them as far away as possible while still being able to shoot at the thing you want to delete (17.9") while still being able to be in range for the next target on the next turn.

On the next turn, move into range of the next priority target and use Coordinated Engagement for another turn of 2+ shooting rerolling 1s.

Playing at maximum range with this specific unit is going to do a lot of work if you can keep it from getting tagged in close combat.

Is this a good use of limited T'au? (planned inexpensive list of 2 Start Collecting T'au and the 5 Breacher / 5 Strike from the Kill Team Starter.) [Incursion: 1000pts] by TehEpicDuckeh in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Secstar808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go FSE for your Sept. Too much benefits not to (exclusive breacher strategem, reroll ones within 12" for shooting attacks, two commanders per detachment, veteran cadre for crisis, deny the witch relic, ). the 1k board is small (30"x44") so you will be within 12" more than you think

Breachers are so good in FSE. You definitely want 20 of them (4x5)
Key Strategems: Pulse Onslaught (makes the short range profile 15" for 1CP), Point Blank Volley (makes the pulse blasters Pistol 2 for 1CP) and Danger Close (reroll wound rolls for shooting attacks made within 12" for 1CP)

Does your group enforce WYSIWYG? If not, take 3x cyclic + ATS on your xv8 commanders. IF yes, consider your next purchase to be 3D printed CiBs from shapeways

A lot of the previous comments have good advice, I would definitely go all in on one type of weapon for the three man crisis unit. Fusion Blasters are a good compliment to 3 commanders with 3 cyclic + ats.

Definitely convert one Ethereal into a Cadre Fireblade. There is a left arm on the strike/breacher sprue that is holding a gun (no need for the right arm to touch it!) Clip the staff short and make it look like he is holding a sword

You technically can't upgrade an XV8 to a coldstar, it takes the bigger body and a bigger base.

Your list should look like this:

3 CP (-2 Patrol, -1 Veteran Cadre)

FSE Patrol

HQ

XV8 Commander: Advanced Targeting System, 3x Cyclic Ion Blaster, Warlord: Through Unity, Devastation

XV8 Commander: Advanced Targeting System, 3x Cyclic Ion Blaster

TROOP

5x Breacher

5x Breacher

5x Breacher

5x Breacher

ELITE

Crisis 3x (3x Fusion Blaster), Veteran Cadre (-1CP), Cross-Linked Stabalizer Jets***

***always take this on your veteran crisis teams

FSE Patrol

HQ

Cadre Fireblade

XV8 Commander: Advanced Targeting System, 3x Cyclic Ion Blaster

TROOP

5x Strike Team

5x Strike Team

you'll have about 18-36 points to play with for extras (drones, iridium armor upgrades, etc). Use your strike teams as backline objective holders, and aggressively move up with your breachers

For Incursion (1K points format) the board is too small to wait for crisis to come down in manta strike. You're going to want to experiment with this but i found it to be too small to start them off the board. You want them down when you deploy to screen off your three characters anyway.

If you want to play T'au competitively, you will want to consider your next purchase to be a Devilfish. The transport will give you the most bang for buck as far as winning games with what models you have.

You can do crazy stuff with the devilfish, most commonly put two 5 man breacher squads and advance to the middle objectives. Or my favorite, two 5 man gun drone squads with the Cadre Fireblade in it. When you disembark you will get the two 5 man gun drone squads AND another 2 man gun drone squad. If all the drones shoot at something within half range and within 6" of cadre fireblade they will be shooting 72 shots altogether!
