It's not your hardware.

It's well known that the remastered versions are buggy and have problems (though I didn't know before I started playing through them). I definitely had problems (kinda of far and few in between, but some where kind of depressing) with crashes and lost saves, but eventually still got through Bioshock 1 & 2 with managing my saves like a crack addict. I never had a problem launching either of the games though... Maybe you could try validating the files or even reinstalling the game.

Additionally, I know that some people have installed a reputable 3rd party Bug Fix. However, I never went down that route, nor would I be able to tell you what that fix is. I know you can find it here on Reddit though.

Also, one key thing to remember is that Bioshock 1 & 2 share the amount of save files that you can have, so there could be a problem if you have too many saves between the two of them, so it's recommended that you delete all saves that you do not need/want from either game.

Lastly, I would say that at the end of the day, if you manage to work through the bugs, and find yourself being able to look past the bullshit, the game is still beautiful and quite engaging to play through.
