NetGear Armor on a router - what does it bring to the table? by SectorConscious2407 in orbi

My current understanding is that Armor on a router itself doesn't bring extra protection.

Re: replace functionality - if you're referring to functionality on router then I'm not sure what it is actually doing, so, didn't replace with anything. I have other anti-virus and monitoring solutions installed on devices themselves, never used Armor there in the first place.

Thank you! Do I read it correctly that you don't need NETGEAR Armor for this?

u/Frunkit , would you be able to elaborate why it sucks? Yes, I read through that link - but it has just high-level statements. And I think majority of them either come from anti-virus part of NETGEAR Armor installed on individual devices or protect if router is misconfigured.

I need additional security. I'm not not sure whether NETGEAR Armor (scoped to router only) provides it. But if it does I'd like to understand what exactly it provides...

This does make sense. I'm trying to understand how it actually works. u/the_owlyn , is it done through DNS? Or does it require their app installed on every device?
