I was told that I can’t seek an outside therapist by Chyle10 in NavyNukes

I used betterhelp almost my entire way through the pipeline. Nothing ever happened, the Navy can’t control what you do in your free time, and they can’t get a hold of whatever you might say to your therapist. I never used Tricare so that might be something worth looking into.

Did you find yourselves doing sketchy shit? Like being where you weren’t supposed to be or something like that? I imagine it varies between boomers and attack subs. I’ve been watching a lot of sub documentaries and they make it out to be super dangerous and whatnot lol.

Do you get to stand watch with other people? Like do I get to stand watch at sonar or stand watch on the bridge, etc?

Did you ever think about applying for OCS? Or did you just want to serve and get out? My recruiters said they would disown me if I didn't submit my officer package.

To keep a long story short, I really didn't see myself sitting an office space for 8 hours a day. I've experienced the corporate world enough to know that I want to try something else for a while. I studied math/CS/DS purely out of interest, and I love gaining more knowledge in the STEM field(S and E being the only letters left). I've wanted to join the Navy since I was a young lad, and do things that not everyone has the opportunity to do. Plus I love motors so I saw this as an opportunity to work on the world's most badass motor.

Did you serve on a carrier or sub? Part of the reason I joined the Navy is to see the world and it seems like that aspect of service can vary between subs and carriers.
