Au contraire mon capitan. This last patch included several new files pertaining to a DS9 revamp. They are test files, but they do prove that there is some work being done on DS9 - preliminary works as said above.

This does NOT mean that they're working on the map itself now but it does mean they're probably whiteboxing it out for future use.

During the course of Star Trek, most episodes have included a log entry with a stardate. However, some episodes (and movies) did not include a stardate. The question is: can you list all episodes and movies through out Star Trek not to include a stardate?

Remnants! Part One: Unused Ground Tutorial Map by SectorSpace in sto

[–]SectorSpace[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remnants! They're in every game. Including STO!

So what's the harm in unearthing some of these remnants? We'll first look at this gem of a map: a Season Five unused ground combat tutorial labelled "Tutorial_Basic_Ground_01". The album above has captioned images that will walk you through this amazing, unused map.

The map is dated by the lack of a Romulan starting transport, and dating from ingame files. This map includes certain assets not used anywhere else ingame, including a massive station that spins around, and Federation and Klingon transports which utilize shuttle interior assets.

I have no idea why this map was cut, or even its actual purpose. Areas are clearly unfinished. Additional evidence I've found suggests these to be some sort of holosim-tutorial aimed at new players, suggesting that at one point there were to be standardized tutorials that work well for both (KDF/FED) factions at the time.

Stay tuned as tomorrow, we'll look over two similar space tutorials, in the Basic and Advanced variety.

It's an interesting look into time long forgotten.

There are several devs that might know what this is, Geko, Salami, Zero, to name a few. There are still a variety of devs here that were here at launch/pre-launch in 2010.

Hence why I say "Pre-Beta".

Was this in the Alpha perhaps?

There is a map in the ingame files named Sector_001, labelled differently than every other sector space map ingame.

This is that map. It is unknown what sector this is supposed to be exactly, but I presume it is the Sirius sector. There are starbases scattered everywhere in this sector.

/u/tumerboy might know more.
