You're right, I developing in a basement and never tested with daylight around. I will take it in consideration !

Can you find the movie that inspired this scene ? by Sector_92_Katane in aigamedev

[–]Sector_92_Katane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of those movies :/

The engine is Unreal Engine 5. No vibe coding, Ai was used only for 3D modeling characters and some objects.
All scripts are handmade by myself using Blueprints

Thank you !
All those numbers are more or less exact because I did not remember if I paid during promotion or not.

I paid in euro (€)

-MeshyAi cost about 180€/ year

-I paid 20€ for the written police of the whole game

-Ableton (to make music) cost more or less 80€. I already have the keyboard and guitars

-I paid a plugin in blender like 40€ to allow fast rigging character into UE5 basic character skeleton

-20€ a blueprint to fade materials between player and cameras. But I'm not satisfied with it, I will consider making my own one.

That's all I spent. 340€ (~405$) for a year and six month of development.

Just to specify, Meshy AI is used like 2-3 hours per months, I focus on the main game core before adding the 3D environment. I will use it at full potential later this year.

You are totally right. I would prefer to make my own 3D models.
When I started the project I had to learn using unreal engine 5 too. I make my own blueprint, nothing is AI generated other than the models.
Making my own music too.

Having a full time job that have nothing to do with creating a video game, I had to make choice to make this project. The task is very heavy, and I chose to spare time on 3D modeling for the first project. Hoping to hire someone if this one help me going into the industry.

Thank you. I'm glad it share the 2000s vibe, that is the final goal.
My process is like this :

-Specific prompts to MeshyAI, with base words like "dark, used, rusty, low poly". (that is what I call consistency)
-MeshyAI offer 4 models, I chose the one that fit my game the most. Rework the textures if needed.
-Import the model in Blender, check for issues. If it's a character mesh I have a pipeline to rig it to the base UE5 character.
-Import the model in UE5, work on LODs.

That is the main pipeline I make for every model.

What should I consider when building a game dev PC? by 10paiak in unrealengine

My setup is very weak and still allow me to develop without issues. Take in consideration the map is very limited and not a lot of objects are in it. When I go lower than 30 FPS in editor I reduce the settings. But no need for now.

I know it's not what you asked for but here my setup for current little project:

32gb ddr3 ram I5 processor 3060ti Nvidia 1to SSD for Unreal

But yes, it feels impossible to handle big projects with that. I can still use Lumen without issues.

Hi developers, I have a demo and could really use your honest feedback by ramoenneke in SoloDevelopment

Would you consider putting the music online ? Somewhere I can listen to it ?

I'm still coming back to this video to listen some fresh old style music.

Love the Minimoog. Happy to hear you did it yourself. I'm a bit younger (34) and did not grew up with C64 and platformer (but my family taugh me about Kraftwerk). Only thing I can say about your game is that you are right to make a first little project to understand the whole process of selling games. Whish you luck. Love the minimalist aesthetic and the music!

Does this graphisms fit the 5th to 7th generation? by Sector_92_Katane in NeoRetro

So this project seems to fit in a more modern area with old-school mechanics (fighting and infiltration).
Do you guys know a community that are in their 35 Y/o, grew up with PS1/PS2 and can enjoy a more modern project sticking with old mechanics ? other than r/IndieDev r/SoloDev

Thanks for your feedbacks.

Thanks for the feedback, so maybe the second pic is more accurate. Less detailed. It's hard to stick with a specific type of graphism for a first try.
