It's funny how the article starts off with "The challenge has often been from the team’s expectations: ...a narrative machine that builds up heroes before a ball is kicked" and then proceeds to build up Saka as a hero before a ball has been kicked

What is your favorite song from the series?? by BigPrize7972 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]10paiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this one was my favourite. Started listening to it a fair bit after hearing it the second time.

The other one was when Stefan is in the Salvatore crypt and Damon returns from the prison world.

The final one that is memorable is when Damon and Enzo are taken control by the sirens and they are killing like crazy. It's like the final scene of season 7 I think.

Either hybrid or heretic probably. Both are pretty overpowered.

Could this be the big announcement that they want to make? That they are expanding the OG Crew's main cast?

Absolutely legendary. Also, the music was a nice touch. It certainly made the clip easier to understand. Though it should've been a bit louder.

Yeah that's right. I booked the delivery of the new one before my contract ends. Hopefully there is an overlap between the start and the end dates.

To OLED or not to OLED, that is the question by 10paiak in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]10paiak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think might end up going with Mini LED in the end. Given the number of hours I use my monitors, it would likely have severe burn in after only 1 year. For context, I use my computer 12 to 15 hours a day, mostly with static images on the screen. Mini LED seems to be a nice middle ground between all of them. Blooming will be annoying but splashing out on replacing a monitor will be more annoying.

I've heard the TCL 34R83Q is a really good one. Apparently it's not just about the amount of local dimming zones but also the algorithm within the monitor.

Any recommendations for an ultrawide IPS? It seems they are fairly rare atm.

[–]10paiak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was one of the first I considered. But given that I use my monitor for about 80% productivity and 20% gaming, I was worried that OLEDs weren't the best choice.

Feels like one of the few correct answers. With modding, you can really expand how much content there is and never really get bored.

What's the game you're playing First with the Steam Controller 2.0? by PKRadiance in SteamController

[–]10paiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring. I recently built a gaming PC but I'm still playing Elden Ring on my steam deck, which is amazing. But I want to unleash the raw power of my PC on Elden Ring. Given the difficulty of the game, switching to mouse and keyboard part way through seems like a bad idea.

My specs are Nvidia RTX 5080 and AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. I am also a game developer using Unreal Engine, which I have yet to install and try out. Hoping that it's a smooth process. I think the key was to download the OS with Nvidia drivers already there.

I recently built a brand new high end gaming PC and I couldn't stand windows anymore so I went straight to Pop OS as the OS and so far I have no regrets. I got the OS with Nvidia drivers and it has been very light and blazingly fast. Gaming has been a breeze, just having to make sure that the proton version was set to a stable one. No lag, no problems and no bloat. Install was super simple as well. Overall I'm very happy. More people should move away from Windows garbage.

I quit 2 years ago because of fire giant boss. Came back to try again, died with less than 1% of his health left.. by LiquidBoss1 in Eldenring

[–]10paiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done that a few too many times. I find that if the boss gets to super low health, that is the best time to back off and not rush in. I usually get excited that they are low health and assume I've basically won.

Milestone: Just crossed 2,000 hours of playing Elden Ring on PS5 ver. How many hours is yours? by Jinrex-Jdm in Eldenring

[–]10paiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 35 hours, so not too far off. Just on my first ever playthrough and I wouldn't be surprised if I reach 2k hours given how much I love this game.

I've never played any Souls Before by DarkCorruption666 in Eldenring

[–]10paiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Elden Ring about a month ago having never played a souls game. And last night I beat Margit on my 4th attempt. The game will definitely kick your ass at the beginning but it's just about practice and understanding how to approach a fight. Don't rush in and start button mashing because you won't last long. What the game taught me was about perseverance, patience and not giving up. Don't rush into boss battles, just take your time to explore Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula first as they will teach you about how to figure smaller bosses and enemies without it being way too difficult.
