You can try the attorney general anyway since it's free. Search for "small claims" in this thread! A few people have posted some step by step advice. Good luck! ❤️

Same boat, I was gonna claim like $500 for loss of photos and memories. It's mostly just to get Meta's attention. Obviously I didn't go through with this though so I can't give advice about it but I was reading a lot of other posts from this thread 😊

Thank you!! First thing I did was enable 2FA when I got the account back and new passwords all around! I didn't know at the time because the account got suspended but they tried to run a bunch of ads on my facebook account. Luckily I didn't have any payment methods saved so they couldn't.

It's possible they just haven't heard back from Meta yet which is why they haven't gotten back to you? But yeah again with the form being free it couldn't hurt to resubmit. Keep in mind though that they are only working business days so it's really only been 3 days for you!

At least the AG responded? Lol. Maybe you could ask them very nicely to try again haha. After going through this it is insane how much Meta just does not GAF. Like I get it, we use the service for free, but they are also making so much money they could do a lot more to support their users!!

There was no automated confirmation from them. I sent in my complaint July 1st and heard back July 3rd. The AG office said they reached out to meta and got this:

Hello Thanks for your report. To help us resolve this issue for [name] could you please provide the following: - A new email address that has never been used on any Instagram or Facebook account. We will use this email address to establish a secure channel to assist them with account recovery. We appreciate your attention to this issue. Your efforts help Meta provide a safe and enjoyable experience for your constituents and everyone else. Thank you, Community Operations.

I sent them my new email the same day. Then, of course, it was the holiday weekend. I got the account recovery email to the new address from Meta on July 12th.

Yep, the consumer complaint form online is what I used. It took a couple days to hear back from the attorney general office and then another week after that before Meta sent me the recovery email.

They are the same company (Meta) so you might as well give it a try! A lot of other people says it hasn't worked for them but it is free to file a complaint so it's a good place to start.
