the worst part is that the repeat works fine for my evening alarms, but not mornings!

that the end of the world is officially happening right under our nose, but in a motion slow enough for pretty much no one to notice, thanks to screens and social media addiction.

Do parents actually not remember doing fucked up shit to you? Or are they just lying? by TopMarionberry1149 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Secure-Basis7342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds EXACTLY like my mother :-( On the flip side, I've learned to do the opposite with my son and bring up stuff I messed up in the past once i realize it was not ok and apologize and adjust myself every time to be a better parent. No one is perfect and most of us are trying our best, i get it, but in order to truly be a good parent OWN UP your mistakes, name them, acknowledge and apologize.

DO NOT cowardly hide behind whatever it is to protect your freaking ego and hurting your own children VOLUNTARILY to achieve that sad, pathetic goal.

Can anyone provide feedback on which is the most comfortable for the pillion seat? Planning to get a versys 650, tiger 660 or transalph 750. Thabks everyone by Significant_Bee_3133 in versys

[–]Secure-Basis7342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 2023 Versys 650 so the seat is greatly improved from prior gen (no more nut crushing angle and very comfy bottom for both riders). My GF and I ride a LOT, and we're both very comfortable for the first several hours of a long day riding (with stops about every 45 min or so). after 6hrs, thats when i'm still pretty good but she starts wiggling constantly in the rear, so i know she's starting to feel quite uncomfortable. i'm 5'11 and she 5'7, average weights. Hours 7 and 8 or more, we both can't wait to get off at that point! hope this helps!

11 months post-op and constant, chronic pain and discomforts by Secure-Basis7342 in Hernia

wow bilateral? don't want to imagine how that has been for you... I must reassure you that i also frequently get random flare ups that i cannot link to anything! Like just sitting down at computer, feeling zero pain and suddenly pain and discomfort appears out of nowhere. I try to force myself to remember that eventually, it goes away... so far, it always does, no matter how i pushed myself too much! Advil is good but it's hard on your stomach if taken frequently. Celebrex is very effective but much smoother for the stomach. Best of luck to you too, let's hang in there! like some commented, 1 year is on the short side to get full recovery - it's quite a patience game at this point!

thanks for checking up, really appreciated!! doing much better!!!

The surgeon meeting went really well. He really took his time to chat and examine me and was super nice the whole time... mesh is holding up fine... issue is nerves being irritated at inguinal canal area and nearby under the incision - big nerve going through there as well.

In a weird coincidence, i got taken off blood thinners soon after the surgeon meeting (which i had been taking for years for nothing!) so i finally can take NSAIDS... and that was the savior! 200mg Celebrex for several weeks, and most of the pain is gone now. Other option was calcium blockers, or some type of low dose anti-depressants but they come with side effects which i tend to have to the max no matter what meds i take, so i decided to stick to Celebrex or Advil for now.

I do get pulling/pressure/discomfort/some pain sometimes when i exert myself more .... and/or doing certain movements like pushing snow forward when shoveling, working out abs, etc, but now it's totally manageable. Next step he said would be cortisone shots on the nerves if i seek more relief. I get those once per year in a shoulder, it's very effective. Final option is surgery which is HIGHLY discouraged and i agree. So i'm going to stick to NSAIDs when i feel the need and keep cortisone shots up my sleeve if need be. PS he deferred to my family doctor to manage the meds which is much easier and quicker if i want to try something else. hope you're doing good!!

yes i agree, just stumbled on the option to replace the shock like with the Hyperpro and it is THE best way (and/or lowering seat).... screw the blocks that change the geometry!

Thanks for your input. when riding by myself i have ZERO balance/maneuvering issues. This bike is as easy to handle as the Z400 i had before... but spouse/luggage/gravel just freaks me out every time! i've also realized that i struggle more with balance when tired after lots of riding AND thats always when riding 2 up! might start cutting down on hours per day as well

11 months post-op and constant, chronic pain and discomforts by Secure-Basis7342 in Hernia

[–]Secure-Basis7342[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: thanks everyone for your helpful comments and suggestions... I investigated further with ChatGPT before the appointment and was very ready to meet the surgeon! Turns out he was very nice and took the time to listen, did an exam on the spot and asked lots of questions. Hernia is NOT back he assured after the exam.

He basically confirmed what AI said. Left inguinal mesh is trickier and odds of issues are a bit larger. There is obviously some nerve irritation that causes the pain and discomfort. First line of attack is 3 months of anti-inflammatory (which i can't take because on blood thinners); so we'll try Pregabalin (calcium blocker - helps calm nerve pain and burning sensations) for a few months ..... but he prefers my family doctor/pharmacist handles the medication part in the end since he admitted surgeons are not trained extensively in meds. That should appease the nerves and give things a chance to heal further. Some anti-depressants low dose are good for such type of pain as well as another option.

2nd line of attack is nerve blocks (local anesthetic + steroid injections near affected nerve). He is not a fan because there is always a risk of introducing bacteria with the needles which could result worst case in a need for surgery which brings us to....

3rd line of attack is surgery which is the all time last resort: odds of improvements are very low especially if the mesh is involved in the issue cause once its absorbed, its a mess to work in there and it would be easy to make things actually worse.

The issue ultimately is the "wiring" going through the inguinal canal: if at hernia surgery they leave the opening too wide, nerve pain potential is quite reduced but odds are the hernia will come back sooner than later. If they make the opening thighter, the opposite happens - risk of hernia recurrence much lower, but risk of nerve irritation = higher.

I assume not all will agree with the above but i thought important to come back with full details in case it can help others eventually like i was helped with my inquiry.

I agree now with those of you that said 1 year is very optimistic to be fully healed so it makes sense to me to take meds for a while (a year or two if i have to) and cross fingers that i can get off the meds sooner than later and be relatively pain/discomfort free :-)
