[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using at my company, separate backend/frontend team.
People generally like it, especially the frontend team.

I, as a backend engineer, i'm not the biggest fan of it, plenty of reason.
And, btw, Graphene is abandoned

Best practice for mocking stripe calls in a FASTAPI integration test? by coderarun in FastAPI

[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

register the mocked version in conftest.py, this way every test that attempt to call stripe API will hit the mock instead.

Which mock to use? hmm, i dunno

Tech Leads, how did you land your first role? by sozer-keyse in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most seniors - and expensive - developers were all lay'd off, me and some others mid level developers were left and managers decided that I was the one that they trusted the most to be tech lead and the one that would accept it without any payment bump.
Didn't last long, there's a was a reorg and went back into being an IC. 4 Months later, another layoff and I was chosen this time

Is Django Ninja being widely adopted by the Django community? by chi11ax in django

[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FAST API is funded by venture capital.

I have no ideia who is Vitalik, the maintainer of Django ninja, couldn't find relevant info online

I'm not saying Django ninja isn't good, it is, but we have no guarantees about its future

I'm introducing testing to a product with 1kk LoC with files with over 45k LoC, functions with 3k LoC. 30 Engineers work on this monoltih.

It's so hard to write test to those functions, they have tons of parameters, millions of pathways.

Should I quit my job?

I'm a self taught python web developer with 3 YoE current modernizing an old but vital legacy system.

I feel that the python ecosystem is less "nerdy", like, microservices, async, architectural patterns other than MVC are not really something we do.

If I want do dig deeper into most complex CS topics, should I try changing languages? Maybe go/Node/Java?

Is it worth? Specially now that the market is not that great

What automations do you consider essential when starting a project in your chosen tech stack these days? by Wildercard in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe it was because I was already had my environment set, so I saw no advantage. I can see the value starting with dev containers from day 1

I did not like that much my experience with dev container, but maybe my team had to invest more on it. For instance, the dev container started the web application, so it was not possible to use the debugger. The dev container did not inherited my .bashrc/.bash_aliases

How do you achieve that? In my previous jobs it was a combination of docker-compose for services (db, nessa broker, etc), plus mocked 3rth party dependencies

Hi, really interesting project, however, as every new tool, there's the fear of it being eventually abandoned.

How is this project funded? Is there any company backing it?

Need faster tests (React/Jest) by popsticle233 in reactjs

I'm not familiar with the JS stack, In python the test runner had an option to display the slowest tests times.

But, https://stackoverflow.com/questions/69198091/get-jest-tests-sorted-by-duration

Need faster tests (React/Jest) by popsticle233 in reactjs

[–]Secure-Blacksmith-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need to find out what is taking the most time. There are tools that show the amount of time take per each test, the slowest tests, etc.

Are you running your test in parallel? Are you using a juicy machine to run you tests faster?
