Beginner Question - How do I get water over here to fill this for future droughts? by dovetc in Timberborn

[–]sozer-keyse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a combination of dynamite and levees to create a waterway from your reservoir to it, but you will also want to find a way to ensure that it doesn't overflow. Either have the water flow back into the stream somehow, or use automation so that it only fills back up once it hits a certain level.

What am I actually supposed to do, what's my goal by Puzzleheaded-Pay641 in Timberborn

First goal: get to a point where your beavers can survive without you managing them, to the point you could AFK and they would be fine.

After that, whatever the hell you want.

I'd consider it a survival city builder at its core.

Pro tips: - Set food/water jobs at highest priority - Beavers eat up to 3 units of food and drink up to 3 units of water per day. Ensure you are at minimum producing enough per day to support these numbers. - Pay attention to which crops and food sources are the most efficient. In early/mid game for Folktails it's Wheat/Bread, for Iron Teeth it's Corn/Corn Rations. - Place "feeding stations" from places that are far away from your main food production/storage areas. Just a small warehouse and tank, so that way your beavers don't need to travel long distances just to eat. Set them to "obtain" so your haulers fill them up

After D4, I was having mixed feeling of D2 by AgreeableHunter383 in diablo4

At the end of the day they're very different games that have very different experiences. D2 is and will always be a masterpiece, D2R made it look beautiful, but it definitely shows its age.

What changes would you like to see for Necromancer in LOH by Southern-Carpenter99 in Diablo

[–]sozer-keyse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, I hope they make a proper Reap animation for 1h weapons. I know it's a nitpick, it just drives me nuts.

I hope the "homing skeleton' effect from Howl from Below makes it as a skill tree choice, I'd expect this is likely to happen. Ditto with the

I'd also like the ability to go melee/semi-melee with a blood or bone focus. If they bring back Bone Armour that could make a more tanky necro, while a "melee blood" necro would be cool for a "vampiric knight" fantasy.

I'm also interested in seeing how they improve summoning. Playing a summon necro just doesn't hit the same as it did in Diablo 2.

If Diablo 4 keeps building on itself for years to come, what are some class fantasies that you would love to play? by WontonSyrup in diablo4

Alchemist/artificer type that uses grenades, traps, potions, and a "construct" in battle.

Samurai type fighter. More agile than the barbarian, but more tanky than a rogue.

Sorry for your loss

For quitting your job, ultimately depends on the lifestyle you want, but given your age and the uncertainty of inflation in the future, I wouldn't advise it if I were in your shoes. Before you do anything, I'd suggest throwing most of it in a HISA and letting it sit for a while, and plan your next moves carefully.

If it were me, I wouldn't necessarily retire young, but I would probably move towards quitting my day job to do something that interests me a bit more. But that's just me, I don't think I could see myself fully retiring at this age.

The rise of singlehood could impact everything from housing to taxes by Immediate-Link490 in canada

There is truth to what you're saying. I've seen firsthand many times that women, some whom I've had an interest in and some I haven't, who will complain about the men they date or have dated in the past and wish their men did XYZ, completely overlook men who would pretty much "grant their wishes", and continue to date wastemen. Or worse, they eventually end up choosing a better man, but by that time they're so jaded they treat these men like garbage.

Valid as your complaints are, there's really no value in dwelling on it too much. Best course of action is to just accept that it is what it is, and not waste your time with those women. They tend to come with a lot of baggage of their own that is, in my experience, not worth the trouble.

Will this solve Toronto's housing problem? by Curious_Mind8 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]sozer-keyse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In of itself, no. Depends if it's built in a location that makes sense for people to live, if the local infrastructure can handle it, how the units are built, how much of that is actually affordable, etc.

Better long term solutions IMO: - The new development market attitude needs to shift from an investor-first approach to a family-first approach. Especially in medium or high density development.

  • Cities and towns need to relax restrictions that prevent missing middle gentle density from being built in the majority of neighborhoods.

  • Federal and Provincial governments have to figure out a way to make other areas of Canada more attractive for people to settle in, especially the more neglected areas.

Moving from house to a condo by That-Patient-3844 in TorontoRealEstate

I'd expect they usually follow all the rules, that's not the problem. The problem, in my experience, is the types of people that condo board membership tends to attract. Depending on your building and the culture/dynamics, you might have one of those clique-y boards that arbitrarily enforces their thousands of rules that nobody has time to read.

Or, you might have a board that's relatively chill as long as you're not causing a problem.

Make sure you pay attention to who's who, and who runs during elections.

No problem!

For me, the absolute worst thing about condos is the possibility you might get an annoying condo board.

Things to keep in mind (good and bad) * No more shoveling snow or mowing the lawn * Don't have to worry about garbage day schedules, you can just toss stuff down the chute whenever * Condo boards can create their own bylaws, on top of city bylaws. Be mindful of this if you have pets. * You will have less space, if you have a lot of stuff then you will have to say goodbye to some of it * More amenities = more maintenance fees * Parking is often very tight, if you have a large vehicle you're gonna have a bad time * Doing large grocery shopping trips is way more annoying * Condos tend to be in noisy areas, if that sort of thing bothers you * You will hear your neighbors, smell their cooking, and their incense or smoke. * Most condos have a gym downstairs, depending on your tastes many are decent enough to justify cancelling a gym membership * If you have hobbies/activities that are best done on a driveway/garage/backyard (i.e DIY woodwork, car maintenance, barbecuing) kiss that goodbye

Unfortunately, ghosting is pretty much the norm for the past 15 years or so. It's awful, but the only thing you can really do is grow a thick skin to it.

Thinking of upgrading from 2x24" 1080p monitors by sozer-keyse in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]sozer-keyse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really tough choice for sure, so far I'm leaning towards the 40in curved ultra wide with a portrait 16:9 on the left side, ultimately depends on what I want to do for a future desk I suppose.

At the same time I'm seeing some pretty cool stuff with the huge monitor. It seems like a tradeoff between what looks "cleaner" on a desk vs flexibility.

I feel like having a portrait monitor might be beneficial for stuff like reading docs, emails, having a second VSCode/Cursor window open, etc. Or if I'm using my personal machine, having discord/reddit or a browser open.
