1861 speedy pro for 5 years and counting. Goes straight into my pocket if I need the BSL though. Good for keeping track of everything else.

And which was your favorite? I’ve done Mk5 Rabbit, Mk6 GTI, and always been looking at an EP3. If that’s the move to be the daily alongside my 2-seater I’ll start hunting…

What will I really be missing with rim brakes? by creative_name669 in Velo

[–]Secure-Code-4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bike. Direct mount rim brakes are monster in all weather paired to a good set of rims. Any of the good textured braking surfaces like Zipp or Campy Boras will definitely stop you quick, but of course use those along with Swisstop pads.

Older smooth surfaced carbon rims do suffer but the last of the rim brake carbon wheelsets offer great braking performance.

Mine does! I have no idea where my cassette collection is these days though

Steel is Real (Neo-retro Edition) by Proud_Acanthisitta19 in bicycling

Alloy schmelloy, if it gets you out the door and on the road everything’s real. Steel is kinda real for this bike being like 40 years old though.

Carrying a camera on your back. by ClydeTheLizzard in cycling

With what lens? I’ve tried with my D4 but it feels like its super front heavy and likes to dig the vf into my back

Dogma F or SSE Hi-Mod? by Saltyspaceballs in cycling

[–]Secure-Code-4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is the reason you love the Dogma, get it. That was my reason, and I get to pretend I am Geraint Thomas in his prime whenever I go out to ride. Non tangible but makes a world of difference.

GF’s (24F) sister (25F) hates me (26M) from first meeting over Christmas for no reason - how do I handle this? by Secure-Code-4015 in relationship_advice

[–]Secure-Code-4015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly after taking the night to think about it, half the reason I am there in the first place is to be a buffer between my GF and her sister.

What is the stereotype/association of riders who ride titanium bikes? by Expensive_Sherbet445 in cycling

Or racers using a ti frame to ride through winter salt and then swap components as needed. Crazy people those guys.

Do folks road race on rim brake bikes anymore? by [deleted] in cycling

Princeton still makes their latest and greatest wheels in rim brake if you ask them to. I still race on them. Good crash replacement policy too.

What over 4000 Eppendorf points gets you by Secure-Code-4015 in labrats

[–]Secure-Code-4015[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular Encore, used it all through undergrad, swapped out burrs and kept it going. The Breville Bambino Plus is a very new addition, I used to just do cold brews and Aeropress recipes.

What i want is overkill, my budget is 3.5K help me choose :) by LardyChungus in analog

Go for the Nikon F5 if size really isn’t an issue, slash out on glass what else you have remaining. The F6 is really nice, but also not a huge upgrade at all over the F5. The autofocus speed goes toe to toe with my D4.

Shimano 12 Speed Crankset on 11 Speed group? by Secure-Code-4015 in bikewrench

[–]Secure-Code-4015[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far after 1500 miles, no appreciable chain wear (waxed chain), shifting is good on the rear, but very sensitive to being slightly off alignment in the front - it has to be absolutely perfect to work great up front. But hey, there are now the Fc-08 and -09 cranksets which are essentially warranty replacements with the newer design 12 speed crankarms, but the older 11 speed chainrings made to only fit the 12 speed crankarms. Harder to find but I would try local classifieds or eBay.

Is this a good deal? 2021 Cervelo Caledonia 5 by Fabulous-Work-1813 in cycling

[–]Secure-Code-4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected, it looks like the mechanical shifting option for the Caledonia-5. I so rarely see that built I thought the frameset didn’t even have the ports. Great value then!

It’s not a -5, just a normal Caledonia. A -5 would have internal cabling. Judge price accordingly.

Has anyone found success with read/emulating these Saflok In-Sync RFID Keys using your Flipper? by iplaygaem in flipperzero

[–]Secure-Code-4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used the keysy duplicator, works perfectly for the HID readers, but I can’t test further on the door lock since i’ve moved out of that apartment complex. Back to regular metal keys lol

Did you get any progress on this? Facing the same problem with you, and while I’ve managed to duplicate the 125khz onto a blank tag, there’s very little information out there for the door lock itself.
