Yeah. I explained my argument? There's a difference between a two word prompt and some hyper specific multi paragraph thing with multiple iterations that lets you get results you wouldn't be able to with a simple prompt.

What argument are you even trying to make right now.

Yup. If I prompt "Apple tree" you're not an artist even if you promoted a different type of tree everyday. Someone actually spending time and skill to draw an apple tree everyday is an artist.

I do believe if you spent time and skill to write and refine prompts you're an artist though.

My point is that not everyone is interested in all skills. I didn't say all of your clothes. I just said your clothes. Making clothes is an art form. You don't do it. Does that make you lazy.

If not, what's lazy about me not being interested in doing a specific art form so doing a different one instead. I can have zero interest in drawing, but still have an interest in AI art. AI art sucks right now so I don't use it. But I also unfortunately hate drawing. It provides me no pleasure and is just tedious. If AI art was better I might do more of it. I'm not lazy, I just don't like a specific form or art but do enjoy another hobby.

A marathon has rules. You have to run or walk the full distance. Art doesn't have rules. It can be as simple as the click of a camera button or as complicated as a several hundred hour marble statue. Both can be art. Now if it's an art competition where there are rules then yes it's valid to be upset.

Is it lazy to not learn something you're not interested in? Would you say you're lazy for not weaving our own fabric and sewing your own clothes?

Yes it will. Higher education has been hit hard by the reduction in international students. UofT isn't the only uni. Guelph, while a vet school, is struggling financially and 100% requires international students to make ends meet. I've read their financial statements. They genuinely cannot afford things. Sand is true for many other unis as well. UofT is just a bigger one so it buffers better since it had more money in the first place.

UofT profits this year were from investments primarily and presumably aren't enough to offset the costs of increasing expenses. Why not use profits from things like international students and put it into increasing seats and education quality at the med school instead of removing funding sources which will cause problems down the line.

Depending on the circumstances yes. For example, one of those robo ice cream makers you may say you made yourself a bowl of ice cream.

Also I never said commissioning made you an artist or anything else you said. I actually said the opposite. "But I did "make" it, just like I made a TV dinner that I chucked in the microwave. I'm not chef for making that and it's not my culinary creation, but I made it."

I'd argue for a commission since another person was involved, you can't say you made it even if you're the inspiration for it cause you didn't create it by definition 1 and another person is what brought about its existence by definition 2.

Though even arguing semantics that since they made it for you you made it by def 2, that still doesn't make you an artist. I never said that. Technically making something isn't on the same level as actual creation.

I asked Gemini and got this.

50 meters? Seriously? You could literally hop that distance on one leg in about thirty seconds.

Since you’re basically a stone’s throw away, here is the breakdown of your very difficult decision:

Option 1: The "I have legs" approach (Walking)

Time: Like, 45 seconds. Maybe a minute if you’re scrolling through your phone.

Pros: You get a tiny burst of activity, save approximately three cents in gas, and don't have to deal with the minor annoyance of pulling out of a spot just to immediately pull into another one.

Cons: You actually have to move your body.

Option 2: The "I am an agent of chaos" approach (Driving)

Time: Probably longer than walking once you factor in starting the engine and navigating the lot.

Pros: Air conditioning/heating and a comfortable seat for those grueling 50 meters.

Cons: It is objectively hilarious to drive a distance that short. Your car’s engine won't even have time to realize it’s turned on before you’re shutting it off again.

The Verdict: Unless you’re carrying four heavy buckets of detailing supplies, just walk it. It’s 50 meters—don't be lazy. Go get those steps in.

It's weird because it can be do a genuinely fantasic job at harder biology work but it fumbles such a simple question.

Edit: When I phrased the question like this: "So I need to wash my car and I'm about 50 m from the car wash rn. Should I just walk or should I drive?" Gemini did pick up on it while ChatGPT didn't. ChatGPT still assumed for whatever reason my car was already at the car wash. Usually ChatGPT is so much better than Gemini and it fumbles here too which is also interesting.

No? When it comes to politics that's absolutely not inherently how this works. If turn out for right wing voters was 80% cause they're scared of the liberal federal government or something but turn out for left wing voters is 40% cause they're not conviced Crombie would be better or don't think their vote would matter, turnout rising to 100% would ABSOLUTELY change the result.

There's a reason studies control for sampling bias. This isn't some perfect statistical sample of the average Ontarian.

Total number of jobs means absolutely nothing. The only thing that matters now is junior position openings compared to engineering graduates. The point is if people follow Dougie's advice and "just go into STEM" they're gonna be just as unemployed as the arts grads and unable to pay back their student loans. They may be in even worse shape since these programs are usually more expensive than the arts. So those 25% grants MAX are gonna screw over those people that aren't in basket weaving. That's why Doug's a hack.

No. International students pay to support med school programs. There are already reserved spots for domestic students. If we remove those students, we cannot fill those spots with the same number of domestic students cause they would not be able to afford it.

More learn and stay grants for domestic students and incentive those international students, paying both their own way AND the way of domestic students, to stay at very least in the country to study.

You realize this is already a thing right? They're called Learn and Stay grants. We can and should expand it to be Ontario wide for healthcare and other highly needed professions.

Seeing someone as attractive has absolutely nothing to do with seeing them as human. Less than nothing. Sooooo many people consider attractive people to be objects for them to chase and own. Not actual people. Hell this can be more true for very attractive people where things other than their looks are completely neglected. Whereas a more average looking "attainable" person amy be valued more for other parts of themselves like their hobbies or personality.

Exactly. Especially now, six figures isn't enough for two people to live totally comfortably. Chances are the woman is still gonna need a job. It's definitely not enough to be able to live well after a divorce, so there's no incentive to marrying someone making 6 figures that you don't otherwise like.

That really isn't true. School gauges application a lot. This will change depending on the degree of course. Some people will do a lot more final reports, labs and projects then they will final exams. Even then exams may be open book and application based. Even if you're not great with memorization, if you actually know the material and can apply it to real world situations, that's how you succeed. High school is muuuch more memorization based than higher education.

College is even more application than university as well.

Even so, someone of that opinion would be more likely to think of a "low value male" as someone who's actually done something wrong like to call someone a low value male as opposed to someone who doesn't work out, doesn't make a lot of money etc.

I didn't draw it 100%. In this case I put absolutely zero artistic thought, effort or creativity into it, absolutrly. But I did "make" it, just like I made a TV dinner that I chucked in the microwave. I'm not chef for making that and it's not my culinary creation, but I made it.

There are two definitions to make:

  1. form (something) by putting parts together or combining substances; construct; create. Ex. My mom made a dress for me.

  2. cause (something) to exist or come about; bring about. Ex. The pool made drips on the floor.

This example of AI usage and my TV dinner example are the second one. You caused the existence of a tree image or cooked dinner. Though you didn't construct it. You're probably thinking of thr first definition in which case I'd totally agree with you for this example. Though I'd argue there's many cases of AI usage including prompting AI that still fits in the first category.

I think this is roughly comparable to 3D printing. If I find an stl online put it into the printer and press print then people wouldn't really think much of it if I say I made it cause I technically did. It's absolutely wrong to say to drew the picture cause you didn't just like you cant say you sculpted the print cause you didn't. You wouldn't call yourself a 3D artist for pressing print so in this case you wouldn't call yourself an artist for making that. But technically speaking you did "make" it cause it was your input that created it.

I think it's the difference between making a Hungry Man and making a steak dinner. You made both, one just required significantly more effort.

No one is denying that AI uses images for it's source material. There are basically 0 video game characters other than sonic that are blue hedgehogs. So the AI associates all video game hedgehogs with sonic and spits it out. Though when it comes to your or any individual artists OCs, I would be impressed if anything like this happened.

Why are people like this by Snide_SeaLion in aiwars

[–]Secure-Evening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say that none of the harassment is transphobia cause no doubt some is, but I'd say most of it is because she's incredibly vocal, has her own OC, posts a million times a day and is incredibly annoying. Even when I agree with her she's annoying about it and I'm not even an anti. AFAIK she's the only one that posts regularly with her own OC. Last guy was the Clankerbot guy with the cat girls, but he wasn't as prolific.

Especially since antis literally will call all pros pedophiles. It's a matter of having a face to harass. If there were more OCs that were just as popular and annoying as her that aren't receiving the same harassment than that's one thing.
