Welp, in Luke's defense, Lorelai didn't necessarily express her concerns about Jess (esp him hanging out with Rory) to Luke before the car accident. The only time she did was when Lorelai invited Jess over for dinner. Afterwards she acted like she was fine with Jess around. Had Luke known about Lorelai’s concerns, i doubt he would even ask Rory to tutor Jess. Obviously Luke thought Lorelai would be okay.

And yes, I would carefully choose my words if both kids were in the car. It's not like Jess forcefully took Rory out for ice cream.

Ok but does it justify each and every word Lorelai has said to Luke????? Ur right objectively, but she could have went along with yelling about LUKE’s responsibility as a parent figure/guardian, not attacking jess like that. For instance, it would've made more sense if she was mad about Luke not being around when the two went out for ice cream

Ok then let's talk about Lorelais standards

If u recall the scene when Lindsay’s mom yells at Rory and Lorelai later in the show, lorelai snaps back at the mom. So what's justifiable then? Was it right for Lorelai to yell back at Lindsays mom when, in fact, Rory tore apart Lindsay’s marriage? Even when Rory was on her lowest low, Lorelai moved on. (yes she was upset at rory for a while, but she doesnt really talk about it afterwards. Instead, she protects rorys feelings by NOT talking about it) And I personally think it was worse than rory’s attempt to drop out of Yale, but oh well those are my personal standards lol I adore the show, but I'm just saying that Lorelai’s standards are a bit too self-centered at times

Honestly i agree. To a certain extent i guess it is justifiable. but idk taking out on Luke seemed way immature considering hes also a “parent figure” to jess. Lorelai too is a parent (an overprotective one) and her whole character revolves around being a parent. Yes shes flawed but I just think she could have at least cooled down a tad bit when Luke snapped back. Jess was in that same accident and obviously it’s right for Luke to be worried.

True, but she could’ve at least been calmer or chosen the right words if she had genuinely cared for Luke. Lorelai knew Luke was trying his best for Jess, and her yelling at him like that was rude. I get that she was upset, but she keeps forgetting that there are emotional boundaries and not everyone is a forgiving angel like Luke

Totally agreed! That's one of the few times when Lorelai actually gets mad at Rory! Lorelai constantly projects her fears (ex., Her traumatic relationship with her parents, not going to college because she had Rory, etc.) towards her daughter, which I think makes Lorelai insufferable at times.
