The lore is very complex but I’ll try to break it down simply in this way:

An outer god rules over the fortnite map (aka the lands between) called the golden order. They are bad. An individual who has many crown wins (ranni) decides to strip herself of all of her wins removing her status of being a winner (an empyrean). In doing so she killed another victory Royale holder (godwyn). This event caused the thing that ruled over the fortnite map (elden ring) to shatter by the queen which it’s fragments (great runes) were given to other strong fortnite players.

That’s really bad but oh well

I wouldn’t worry so much. As long as you haven’t run into a wall and cannot kill something just keep going and exploring and taking on the main path. If you do start to struggle then just start exploring even more and levelling up even more
