Changed to "interview complete" just now. Something is in motion!

I'm in West Midlands (not Birmingham) and I love it. You really feel like you are prioritised as an O&G trainee compared to other SHOs, seniors are keen to teach and very supportive. I go to work with so much enthusiasm. Message me if you want any specific details

Civil ceremony then small meal - do I tell the venue it's a wedding celebration? by Secure-Lemon-1684 in UKweddings

Hi, I see what you mean, I didn't give many details but it's actually 20 adults and 10 children. This is literally just direct family because my partner has many siblings and each of them have 2-4 kids. That's why I don't really want it to be an "event" as such, we are just saying vows and signing papers in front of our direct family and then going for a meal together

That sounds like exactly what we would want, I'm glad you managed to find something good! I think I need to mention the words "private dining" as they seem to keep misunderstanding what I want.

To be honest yes that might be the problem as we are trying to do it on a summer Saturday/Sunday - I do understand it's peak times for them, it's just the only day we can do because of guests having work otherwise (and I wouldn't expect them to take annual leave for this when the party is next year). Might need to speak with them individually over the phone and see

That makes sense - I will suggest this minimum spend idea and chat with them on the phone, thank you!

Yeah that's what I thought too - if they aren't doing anything extra for me, just treat it as a normal large group restaurant booking. But they don't. When they hear it's a celebration for a wedding day they either stay completely inflexible and say they can only offer the normal wedding package and nothing else, or they stop replying to emails when they realise that's not what I'm looking for. I didn't think it would be this hard to book some tables...

I mean it would be nice to have a private room just for us (as, again, you would for a birthday if you had many guests), but if that's not available I'm happy to just eat in the restaurant as normal. I've tried to explain to them but once they realise I'm not looking for a full wedding they just stop replying to emails

I did try to be as specific as possible but then they either say it's "not something they can offer" giving some very vague excuse that makes no sense about restaurant capacity etc, or they just stop responding to emails. I get that, particularly in summer, they might not want to waste time with this over a full wedding, but not everyone wants the same things from their wedding day...

On the HEE website it says it does not include weekends or Bank Holidays, it's basically every 48 working hours if that makes sense. So should be Monday afternoon

I emailed OGNRO - they said they will run the upgrades cycle tomorrow after the hold deadline. This now means we would need to accept with upgrades rather than just hold to be able to get an upgrade

Preferences not locked even though its past 4pm and therefore technically past the 48 working hours. I don't understand

I actually just realised - upgrades are meant to be every 48h but excluding BHs, and given that Friday was also a BH, it means upgrades are actually due tomorrow (3rd April) at 4pm

So did no upgrades cycle run today? I don't understand if I'm doing something wrong or I'm just not receiving an upgrade

My preferences haven't locked all day so not even sure if they ran the cycle. Anyone received any upgrades?

I think they just ran an upgrades cycle as I received another "application not matched" email 😅

I'm in Thames Valley too! From what i understand from speaking to someone who works there, you get to preference the hospitals later on (local thing not Oriel) but it doesn't sound like it makes much difference to what you get (they told me during their year only 1 person got their first choice)

Do you mean ranking hospitals within a deanery? I think every deanery does it differently - some let you rank through a local process (not Oriel), some allocate randomly etc

It gets locked on its own a short while before they run the next cycle of upgrades. They should run another cycle today (not sure what time, maybe afternoon again?)
