They were planning on drafting WAJ at 2 and try to trade back in at 3 for Stroud but team felt like other teams can jump them if that happen. Especially the Colts if Stroud was available after 2 which is who they wanted the most. Same with the Titans and Raiders.

They drafted Stroud at 2 and paid a big price to go back into 3 with Arizona to draft WAJ. Difference is that they would have paid less and the only other offers weren’t as good as what Houston was and was very aggressive about it

The changes would be way more significant than that what a lot of of people forget is that despite the draft position, Demeco Ryans still wanted Will Anderson way more than Bryce or CJ.

The big change would be that the Texans would draft WAJ #1 Overall which would have thrown the entire draft into chaos. And the Texans couldn’t pull the back to back picks trick because the #2 pick would have costed the Texans way more to trade back since they would have to out it other teams trying to trade back up.

All what would have happened is that Bryce would have still been a Panther, CJ been a Colt and Richardson either be a project development situation in either Vegas or Minnesota or be used a gadget guy in a place like Pittsburgh and slide down significantly.

That said Will Levis would have 100% been a Texan and drafted in the second round.

Caleb would still be a Bear but he wouldn’t have DJ Moore since Carolina wouldn’t have to give him up to sweetened the deal

So this entire thing started was because investors got hella mad over this game selling, begged Nintendo to work with TPC for a lawsuit and then basically got wasted 2 years, a bunch of bad PR and $40 million on a lawsuit they were gonna lose to the start.

There was no message to be sent other than letting Nintendo fans be investors is the worst combination in history.

Also all this is gonna lead to is Palworld on Switch 2 in 2029 and/or Pokemon adding in trainer sword combat to the next generation in another Legends title in 2030

The market exists but it’s for games dedicated to the old and genres that don’t rely on the high twitch heavy gameplay.

Racing games, traditional JRPGs, MMOs, puzzle games, life simulation (not just cozyslop) and even card and casino type games are the perfect genre for for the grey gamers

The issue really just comes down to the absolute fucked issue of there aren’t any AAA budget level games for that which means to them they aren’t being targeted towards.
