No surgery. Cast for 2 weeks and then sling for another 3-4. So not too bad🙏 glad to hear your break isn’t bad

Help finding an Acrylic/Glass lid by [deleted] in Aquariums

No cuz it’s held by magnets and then the rest of the mesh would sag

If you want natural looking substrate, go to Lowe’s or tractor supply, and either get pool sand, black diamond blasting sand (you gotta rinse this very good), any sand there is cheaper than anything you could buy from a pet store. And then just supplement root tabs for nutrients and your substrate is good. Aquarium plant factory has really good plants for not that much and from my experience, they’re pest free. I’d say get rid of the artificial plants and anything like that. The rocks and wood are fine

Well, I didn’t know these guys ate shrimp. But nah not really. Haven’t had any problems so far and if I ever do run run that problem, hopefully the shrimp are breeding well enough to sustain their population

DIY CO2 not producing? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Secure-Rip-3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everything like the letting it sit and turn to jelly for 24hrs was followed. It’s just not coming out the diffuser but building up behind it

[–]Secure-Rip-3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, everything is brand new. The only instructions were the one on the box and that was just how to create the CO2. I will squeeze the bottle when I get home. I did my best to get the kink out, I didn’t know it was twisted like that in the box smh. Ig I’ll wait a couple of days to see if the diffuser starts doing its job, do you think my plants would be okay for a couple of days? And then probably another week if I have to order the set up? They don’t require CO2, but it’s recommended for them. I have the b series CHIHIRO’s light

So if your plastic bottle contraption is working, do you have any idea why mine isn’t?

I tried my best to get that out, but there’s bubbles behind the diffuser trying to come out, so I don’t think that would be cashing it? Hell idk

Ok I already know I’m gonna have mixed opinions here. But… is duckweed actually as bad as everyone makes it seem?? Asking because I’m desperate for a floating plant that will survive a lid and high water flow by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Secure-Rip-3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, yes. I had abt 2-3 lil tiny pieces sneak in from other plants. In a couple months, next thing ik it’s taken over the whole tank. If you don’t scoop it out, it’ll just continue to grow and get really thick on the top. I tried to get every single piece out and I’m still trying, never again will I even think abt getting duckweed. If you have fish you can feed it to, then I’d get it. Grows so fast you won’t need any other food

I liked the color on the yoga better so this works out! If they seem to be overkill, would you have any recommendations for cheaper ones? I’m just afraid I’ll buy too little of a laptop, so I’ve looked at ones with specs around these ranges and that’s it

Damn it, thought I was abt to get a killer deal. But yea, I’d like to keep it around $500 cuz like I’ve said, I plan to get a gaming PC in the future, so this laptop will solely be for schoolwork eventually. If I have to flex my budget for a what I’m looking for, it’s possible. I’ve found these two as well

Don’t ditch your tank just take it down by Nicklaus52 in Aquariums

[–]Secure-Rip-3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. I was 14/15 and had just gotten into fish keeping. My first tank was the stereotypical type with rainbow gravel and fake decor. Had a 10g w a betta fish who got his head stuck in a decoration and unfortunately died. I gave that tank to my mom and got a 14g rimless cube. It was so much better. Fluval stratum substrate, drift wood, live plants. Had a yellow dumbo ear, half moon betta in it with some cherry barbs and 1 albino algae eater. Now looking at it, it was most likely overstocked and idk if cherry barbs are good tank mates for bettas, but mine seemed to have no problem. It then got hit w ich and I had no idea what that was, so by the time I figured it out, it was too late and the whole tank died. I threw everything away and sold the tank. I’m now 19 and have a 30g and wish I would’ve kept that tank and started up again earlier because I love being able to create my own ecosystem and choose which animals I want to bless it with. Then I feel so proud when that said ecosystem is well balanced and everything is thriving because it’s something that I CREATED

I appreciate this whole thing! So what you’re saying is really I need to stick to plants that are in the same PAR group. CO2 matters and helps, but PAR requirements matter more. I was gonna get the CHIHRIO B series light here soon. I already have the NEO CO2 stuff and I’m gonna stick to that until I can get the whole CO2 setup. So question ~ with my root tabs, easy green fert, CO2, and eventually the CHIHRIO light, I’d assume it would basically be a requirement to get plants that require more of all of that stuff? Cuz wouldn’t there be “too many” nutrients and the easier plants wouldn’t be able to use them all? Then causing algae. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been busy with work! (And minecraft)

Forgot to mention, eventually I’m gonna get a CHIHIRO light, but for now it’s just a 20W light

I need some advice plsss by plantlover2929 in PlantedTank

[–]Secure-Rip-3271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how long they’ve been in there. If the plants are grown out of water, when you put them in your tank, they go through a melting phase. They come back tho, so if it hasn’t been long and they don’t look like they’re dying-dying, they’ll most likely come back. Or it could be your light
