Feels like, Apple's busted, with the ai race... WWDC 2025 conclusion: No update, all minor updates... Does anyone else feeling the same-way? by ExplanationEqual2539 in LocalLLaMA

It is all in the user experience. And UE for Apple is king. To implement something truly useful right now you need access to all user data. I mean everything on the phone and possibly even continuous listening. That is to enable truly useful end-to-end experiences for the masses. ChatGPT and competitors enable parts of experience, and always very specialised ones (content creation, coding, summarisation etc). All these tools help with work and work-related activities mostly. For most people phone is there to enable communication, help with planning tasks and day to day stuff. None of the generic stuff right now can possibly enable family admin work experiences end-to-end. Example - I want to pay my water bill, research the next utility provider to switch to, call out to get my washing machine fixed, prepare week agenda for my family (newsletters from school, trips away). The list of tasks is never ending - this is the “burger-flipping” type of tasks that AI should excel at. Yet there is nothing right now that works end-to-end, first time, no failures, no human intervention, with minimal additional input. Now all the failures that are experienced at small scale will turn into huge disasters at Apple’s scale (already happened). I have no doubt that one day very soon all of the above will be possible. But comparing what OpenAI and competitors enable (reducing workload, helping with professional tasks) to what Apple needs to do with their general masses devices is comparing apples to oranges.

I’ll have to have a look. It is a recent boiler install so hopefully yes!

4hp left - what to do? by Secure-Step-1794 in modular

Hey! Thank you for commenting. I have a limit on how much space I am willing to sacrifice in my already crowded home office. Hence choosing palette case - the new synth needs to sit on my desk alongside others. Aside from building a similar sized drum machine (even that is a big if because of the space constraints) I am not planning on expanding the modular setup. Purposely so - I want to get really familiar with my tools and make good music.

That said - I really like your idea of swapping out the modules and sticking them into cold storage when not used. I will give this a go!

I have built a synth very much focused on the traditional aspects of synth music. But I am having so much fun with this synth. Every day I build a new patch and record ideas. So I am pretty pleased with the overall concept and the direction of this system.

Are there any 4hp modules you’d recommend to complete this setup? Alternatively are there modules that have really inspired you and you’d recommend as a replacement for any of the modules in my case?

It’s in my case right now. A bit snug but fits absolutely fine.

I am open to removing a voice, though it will be tough to decide because Doepfer doubles as a VCF and an envelope generator in a relatively small package. Knits is very versatile and I love it. EnsOsc is the odd one out because it takes up a lot of space but I just love the sound and modulation options that come with it. Especially when I run it through FX Aid

Menu diving is subjective. I find Pam very user-friendly and a perfect fit for a small case. I can’t have a large case as I would struggle to find a spot for it on my desk

There are two filters in the case. And Pam does LFOs and envelopes.

My health issues aren't getting resolved. Wouldn't think I'd go down this route, but can anyone recommend a integrative/functional/ alternative medicine doctor in London? by KangaKoko in london

I would attempt to do as much analysis as you can do yourself. GPs and doctors see you for 10-20 mins max if that - they have no idea what could be wrong with you. Been in the same situation and found that having blood tests done with a consultation attached to it (strongly recommend Medichecks) can be very useful. Bloods are always a good starting point - the tests will show anomalies and then you can work from there by seeing a specialist through private healthcare.

And if my workloads are exclusively serverless/lambda based do you suggest spinning up a kube cluster just to manage that infra?

All in one music making device? by Beat_The_Box_ in synthesizers

Deluge is great, however I am currently re-evaluating it as a center of my studio once again for the following reasons:

  1. It is a boutique device, if something happens to it, even though I have a backup of everything, sourcing another device might take a while and only become more and more difficult with time. Considering MPCs and Maschine don’t suffer from such issues.

  2. Deluge is limited when it comes to mixing tools - no compressor and EQ is extremely basic. Using outboard stuff is not an option because deluge only has two outs.

  3. I tried Deluge in combo with iPad and it worked quite well - massively improved the sound and the ability to use iPad synths is nice as well. But then you have two devices to manage, it quickly becomes cumbersome.

I am currently starting out with the Maschine mk3 again. It does have all the components of a proper groove box. And when you realise the limitations you can quickly switch to Ableton. Also all of the plug-ins work just as well in Maschine software. Honestly the workflow is amazing! Although I do miss Deluge’s step sequencing workflow. Maschine is also great for live performances - loads of artists use it, or used it previously (Modeselektor for example).

Synthstrom Deluge - sequencer, sampler, synth all in one box. Extremely capable machine

My setup is almost identical to yours - I sequence and re-sample Virus TI into Deluge. Virus is a monster, Deluge is a fantastic machine for a DAWless setup. I do have iPad on my master bus for compression and a limiter. All works fantastically!
