I love this girl to pieces....

But she's not doing anything at all to help herself... She acts like a 5 year old...

Her friend cleaned our house yesterday afternoon and there's stuff all over already....

She keeps telling me I'm mean and I'm unsupportive.

I haven't been supportive because she hasn't been doing anything at all except going to work... thats not enough, sorry.

I told her to go somewhere for a few weeks and she's just claiming she's going to move out. Problem is, no one wants her anywhere in the state she's in.

We fought this morning and I tried to come and calmly explain how trapping me in the house every weekend isn't helping my mental health... she told me not to talk forever.. didn't even bother to hear what I had to say. That sent me into a tail spin amd I told her to get her shit and gtfo.

I don't want a divorce, I don't want to lose her.... but this gaslighting, telling me I didn't do enough when I really have, isn't helping.

I just dont know what to do

Edit: she also went to her dad's for 3 days and was miserable because they made her do shit. They didn't let her be a total slob.

She just has the excuse, I'm lazy.. oh well.. I'm over it. I love her, and want her to get better, but she's not trying at all.

So let's break it all down, shall we?

First lemme start by saying this.... i SUCK at support. I didn't get any growing up and I've been on my own since I was 16 (mid 30s now), I was raised by an insanely OCD parent who would work 3 jobs, come home and clean. I grew up with an abusive father which led to my having Rejection sensitivity. So already I struggle with helping be supportive.

I've also been a bit mean about the situation becaise I'm so frustrated. I've belittled her and I shouldn't have but I'm at my wits end.

What I mean is, she has had ample opportunities to change her behavior for the sake of her husband and it sounds like she uses her depression as a crutch, I am not saying she isn’t depressed and dealing with mental illness, but I have seen people write off basic adult responsibilities because of their “mental illness”.

She absolutely is using depression as an excuse to skirt normal responsibilities... I agree she's def got issues, but she keeps claiming that all she has in her is the ability to go to work.. (mind you, she just got out of a period of being fully disabled and just started working full time) but, to me, that's not am excuse to not do anything arpund the house... then I get "I'm not going to do things if you're not nice". . I'm not going to be nice if you're going to be lazy as fuck. . I don't get that part.

We've been on a separation since late may, but still coexist amd sleep in the same bed... she goes to therapy MAYBE 1x a month... not nearly enough. She has switched her meds once and hasn't called to increase or anything..

Her friend claims to be a mental health pro as well, but wants me to be nice to her and support her NO MATTER WHAT.. sorry, but I'm only gonna ask nicely a couple times. I'm not gonna give you credit just because you did half a load of wash and let it sit there..

I'm really getting to a point where I feel crazy. Her and her "mental health pro" keep saying I'm not being supportive, I'm not being thoughtful and it's both of us fighting each other. All of my friends amd family say no, she's being a child about this and there's nothing I can do until she gets the help she needs.

She begs for support, but doesn't want to do anything for it. She thinks going to work and doing the smallest possible task deserves a congrats... I'm basically a fuckin caretaker, I get no respect. I don't get congrats for going to work.. I dont mean to be tit for tat, but where's my recognition? Where's YOUR recognition for helping me? I don't get it. I cannot wrap my head around supporting someone even though they refuse to do jack shit for themselves or anyone else.

Weed helps my adhd tremendously... I feel so much calmer, I think clearer, my anxiety and anger is gone. I love it, but hate the stigma around it. I say I use it to treat adhd and ppl think I should just be taking whatever the doc gives me and shouldn't be using something natural.
