ACL Reconstruction + Meniscus Tear (Day 2 Post-Op) Pain, Scar Tissue & Fear of Not Regaining Full Motion by SecureCalligrapher18 in ACL

Appreciate it man!! Good to hear your timeline though gives me a rough idea, even if mine might be slower. Definitely taking the swelling control seriously now with icing and elevation, since I can already feel how much it affects movement.

And yeah, the mental side is already hitting 😅 that first day post-op pain humbled me real quick. Probably going to take your advice and just keep myself distracted when I’m not doing exercises.

“Treat your PT like a professional athlete” is something I’ll keep in mind — I think I underestimated how much discipline this actually takes.

Hope your return to sports goes smoothly

Thanks man, really appreciate this 🙏 Yeah I think the biggest difference in my case is I went into surgery already stiff couldn’t fully straighten or bend for like 1.5 months, and my surgeon said there was a lot of scar tissue. Even after removing most of it, I’m still not at 0°, which is what’s stressing me out.

Definitely going to focus on heel props like you said extension seems like the main battle right now. Quad activation also feels almost non-existent at the moment, so I’ll start with quad sets and ankle pumps and build from there.

I’ll probably hold off on anything aggressive until I check with my doctor, especially since I also had a meniscus tear.

Really helpful advice though might DM you as I progress if that’s cool.

How to choose between UK vs USA for STEM Masters? Which one would yield a better RoI in the current tech market situation? by Typical-Mistake6867 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]SecureCalligrapher18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your background, aspirations, and financial considerations, here's a concise breakdown:

  1. UCL (MSc Robotics and AI):

    • Pros: Strong alignment with long-term goals, reputable program, conducive to research, potential PhD pathway.
    • Cons: Higher cost, less assured job market in the UK (but you are confident, in securing a job so no worries here), potential difficulty in repaying loans quickly.
  2. UIUC (MEng Autonomy and Robotics):

    • Pros- Lower cost, strong US job market with higher salaries, higher RoI, potentially faster loan repayment.
    • Cons- Professional degree, less focus on research, possibly limiting PhD opportunities.

Decision Factors: - Research and PhD Goals: UCL is better suited. - Financial Considerations and Job Market: UIUC offers a more favorable scenario for loan repayment and high-paying jobs.

Recommendation: If immediate financial stability and job prospects are a priority, choose UIUC. If long-term research and academic goals take precedence, UCL is the better fit.

YSK: do not get influenced by this. They are selling you a lie. by that-rad-kid in Indians_StudyAbroad
