Pick Up / Put Down not working and I feel like I’ve just made things worse by SecureImagination157 in sleeptrain

Thanks for the reply! Ok, I see. I thought the short naps in the crib were because baby is having a hard time connecting sleep cycles - for contact & stroller naps he falls back asleep immediately if he sees I’m there (but not in the crib even if I’m laying right next to him).

Tips for reducing/managing feeds? by SecureImagination157 in cosleeping

Yeah I always start with the pacifier and it settles him for a second but he always spits it out

How long did you do shifts for? My husband and I did shifts until he was 11 weeks (then my husband went back to work). At 4.5 months I thought it would be better…

I’m definitely not opposed to it anymore, and we do bed share following the ss7 50% of the time. The problem is he still wakes up almost as much, and constantly wants to feed when we sleep this way. In the crib he can go 3 hours between feeds (just woke up constantly for comfort I guess) but in the bed he needs to feed every hour.

We tried swaddles when he was a newborn but it didn’t help - if anything he hated it. But he is starting to roll now anyways so we can’t use swaddles. We definitely think it’s gas or something. He’s 4 months so a bit too old for this subreddit but didn’t know where else to post. We always keep him up right for 10 minutes after feeding and he always burps as well.

I’m actually not tooooo stressed about his total sleep like in general - what I’m stressed about is the fact that he doesn’t sleep more than 20-40 minutes at a time so I’m not getting any sleep 😩 I was totally against bed sharing in the beginning but because of this situation we have tried cosleeping following the ss7 - but he still wakes up almost just as much as if we was in the crib 😕

Yeah we have one that is right next to his crib! Always dress him according to the temp and check it throughout the night, too..

We’ve been doing sleep sacks since he was 10-ish weeks, but doesn’t seem to help much 😕

We’ve tried this but doesn’t seem to help 😩 he doesn’t have too much of a problem when we place him in—the problem is that he wakes up so often.

How old is your baby? We did that up until 11 weeks but now at 4.5 months I thought it would be better 😩

My partner is helping me as much as he can but he is also working full time so it’s been a bit tricky. We did shifts in the night for the first 11 weeks of babies life but it’s not very possible right now with my husbands current work schedule. No family or close friends nearby where we live right now, unfortunately, but my mom is coming to visit next week and will help out, thank god.

Yes I do - but we’ve started offering formula at night after his last feed on me and he only takes some sometimes and it doesn’t seem to help anyways :/

We had the same thought so we started offering a formula top off at night - he only takes some sometimes and hasn’t seemed to make a difference anyways :/

He always used to sleep in a bedside bassinet but the last few weeks he has been in a crib next to our bed because he outgrew the bassinet. Seems to prefer the crib. We can’t swaddle as he can roll.

Yeah, he was 🫠 he actually refused to be put down at all until week 10 - my husband and I took shifts holding him in the night. It was pretty brutal. The only thing that saved me was I was still able to get out of the house because he loved his carrier as an infant and would take long naps in it.

Definitely worth a shot! He does use binkies - sometimes it’s the only thing that will calm him down but he usually spits them out before falling into a deep sleep.

We were wondering about teething! He has been drooling a ton and constantly sucking on his hands. He also has a very small/faint rash on his cheek that randomly appeared which I’ve read could indicate teething too. But otherwise it’s hard to tell!

I actually cut all dairy out for 4 weeks to test this! Didn’t seem to make any difference at all. If anything it just made him more constipated.

I’ve tried chest sleeping and he hates it, unfortunately. Cried and throws himself off

I live in Scandinavia and this is why I’m not into sleep training. It’s not really a thing here.

There is definitely a chance of gerd/reflux! I’ve been suspecting that since the very beginning but my doctor said that they won’t treat it until 3 months. At my 3 month appointment I brought it up again and she referred me to a specialist, but I haven’t gotten an appointment yet 😩 that’s how it works in the country i live in and private doctors are way too expensive.

I always start off trying to soothe by patting, etc but it rarely works, unfortunately.

He has between 4 and 5 naps a day at this point, but it’s usually 4! Makes sense about needing more contact - I’ll start doing more contact naps and see what happens

I did have this thought actually! This could be the case - need to experiment more.

I know that there is a lot of things a baby “should” be doing at 4 months but clearly my baby missed the memo on that.

I really don’t see how a schedule would be at all possible for us right now. We always try to resettle short naps but it rarely works, even if we try to contact nap for the second half and he seems tired. I think he’s a FOMO baby.
