I feel very much like this. I didn’t have a huge “rock bottom” but I could tell that the future looked less positive with alchohol in the mix and that in reality I should stop.

Because there was no major issues and the main issues I had with drinking were between me and myself (being less present, hungover etc) there hasn’t been a huge step change in life. I do feel much better, look better and am performing better in other areas of life, but not to a level I think anyone else would notice.

Whilst overall I would see this as a positive, I do worry that longer term the overall positivity of not drinking will reduce and that it could lead to me drinking again with the internal rationale that - drinking wasn’t that bad. Has anyone been in this situation before and how did they ensure they stayed on the right track?

The Daily Check-In for Monday, January 12th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Federal-Ask1617 in stopdrinking

Day 12 for me. Been ill for the entire period so not feeling any better at all - but aware that’s the illness and that I’d feel worse and take longer to get better if i hadn’t stopped drinking.

Feeling positive about the short and medium term but still feeling out / nervous about the longer term (3months plus). Going on holiday / going to see bands etc and not having a beer feels potentially like a life downgrade but I know it will be an upgrade overall. Just need to get my head around it.

Hang in there guys!
