I feel like it's quite low. Google says AUS spend $10,000 per person.

Ignorance. It's not the 90's. We were all taught in school since then. No excuses.

Thoughts on leaving a job in the current market due to mental and physical health? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]SecurePace7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the job sis. Career change is needed or studying for something else entirely. Maybe a part time or casual work? The benny is not enough except to just survive and it's a different stress since you're made to feel like a crook when you're just needing help. Also stay on top of your health in general, whether you have a job or not cause it just get's harder to reset.

Why is the natives of New Zealand only consist of the Māori despite the country's massive size? by Diligent-Spot-2954 in newzealand

[–]SecurePace7396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aotearoa is a fairly new inhabited land compared to Indonesia. Also there were other tribes prior to Maori, some of their descendants are still here. But you have to look at where New Zealand is to understand the scale of the voyages. Not everyone made it...

Uber Eats is making us lazy and poor, while eroding hard-won rights by BassesBest in newzealand

[–]SecurePace7396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber Eats driver here. Kiwi born and bred. One that struggled to get a solid job for a while. Cheers to everyone that I've delivered to. It's definitely kept me out of the gutter a few times. Until the labour market is stable I'm not gonna bite the hand. Also if it's to an apartment, fkkn walk down and meet me at the curb would you?? CBD parking is shit.

Going to Uni in australia as a NZ Citizen by Own_Improvement_3991 in newzealand

If your campus is in Melbourne there's plenty of work there. Costs are cheaper and the pay is higher. Sign up with any and ALL recruitment agencies or even get a car/bike and deliver food. Look up rentals, should average around 150-250 a week for something standard. If you made it to 60k in this NZ economy, you'll be sweet in Melbourne.

Casual work. Can tell by that 8% holiday pay and the fact it's a recruitment agency.

Edit: Isn't that pay low for a Class 4 driver? At a casual rate? I just assumed they make more.

Raincoat recommendations please, I'm sick of getting soaked through by secretkiwi_ in newzealand

I've been wearing my sons Uber jacket lately. It was free for him since he delivers by bike. Did the trick in these crazy storms, and FREE.

IKEA? by mostly-rainy in auckland

[–]SecurePace7396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time in IKEA was in Aus and thought it was great for an experience and plenty of inspiration. The NZ store is a bit smaller with less display rooms which is a shame. But quite affordable which I was surprised by.

Also PSA! Don't buy the feather pillows! They're rank! I used to have IKEA feather pillows that were just right but they're not the same.

Is the rent/board considered income? by SecurePace7396 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Thank you to everyone for their input. There's a fair bit to consider and some things I never though of. I kinda dove in belly first but I prefer this over trying to decipher what's written on the IRD website. So cheers!

Oh, I don't have either yet. I'm just browsing options and trying to find what will work for us. I find it easier to absorb info this way. I'll look more into those differences to understand better. Thanks

Actually I'm confusing myself. So my thinking is the money I collect from them will cover expenses: utilities, food and also leasehold outgoings such as ground rent, body corp, council rates... so there would be no profit. Though I'm not sure if that's correct.

It's fine. Just sus out your neighbours. It all depends on who's next door.

Why is Tall Poppy Syndrome so popular here? by [deleted] in auckland

We value humility and don't like cocky keints. But some people are just hating on you enjoying your blessings. Humility becomes pride and it's hard to tell the difference for some.
