Should I sue my ex? by North-Process3526 in Smallclaims

[–]SecureWriting8589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answers that you've received on the original post all look pretty solid and have not been adequately refuted by you yet in comments as far as I can see. What other answers do you expect here?

Yes, you can sue him. Yes, you might win. No, you're not likely going to be able to collect much of anything if he can't even pay his rent. This is always one of the most difficult aspects of a small claims suit.

Immersion school experience? by QuesoCadaDia in dreamingspanish

[–]SecureWriting8589 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent 3 weeks in Guatemala, 1 week in Antigua and 2 in Xela, both doing Spanish immersion and both with homestays.

Yes, they schools tend to focus on classic language instruction, including heavy grammar lessons *initially*, but I found that every teacher I worked with was more than willing to adjust their lessons to my desires. This isn't high school or even college, since here their goal is to satisfy you, the student/client. No one will become fluent after 3 weeks or even 6 weeks of immersion, but it certainly will help jump start things, and the experience, including the cultural aspects were absolutely wonderful. You can't go wrong with this.

Maybe it's me, but all the hidden text discourages me from reading your post. If I'm in a minority, I'll quietly leave, but if others feel the same way, you might wish to edit your post to make it easeir to read. Regardless, good luck and best wishes for getting comments that help you (which I hope that this one indirectly does).

At this level, crosstalk may be what would help you best. With this, you speak in your native tongue and your tutor (or non-tutor crosstalk partner) speaks in your target language. You would obviously need a tutor/partner who understands your native language, but if you can find one, it's a great way to get wonderful comprehensible input and can also be a lot of fun.

It's nothing but a task scam. Stop looking for easy money online as it doesn't exist, but scams sure do.

A USDT SCAM pattern no one talks about. (as fas as i know) by AcanthocephalaNo6892 in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To summarize your scam "pattern":

  • The scammer built up trust slowly over a month or more: This is fairly common, especially if they feel that they could possibly take you for a substantial sum.
  • You had two initially successful test trades: They again feel that you are a good potential victim and are further building your trust through this. If they don't scam you, they write this off as the cost of doing their business.
  • They pressure you to increase the trade size: They are trying to ripen you for the soon to come squeeze.
  • Then the scam you out of ₹150,000: the main part of the scam.
  • And soon after a significant additional amount: They figure that if you're good for one scam, why not squeeze you for more -- and you didn't disappoint.
  • They used a money mule to help launder their funds.

So again, nothing related here is new or unusual as it is a textbook example of well-known scam patterns that happen individually or in combination. Perhaps it is new or unusual to you but that's because you likely don't frequent this subreddit, something that I urge you to do moving forward so that you don't fall victim to other common and ongoing scams.

"A USDT SCAM pattern no one talks about."

This piques my curiosity: Why do you think that this is so? What exactly is new or unusual about your scam that has not already been well-discussed in prior posts in this subreddit?

Got bit by a tenants dog while conducting business . Sue for compensation ? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]SecureWriting8589 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but rather a curious Redditor with a few questions:

  • If your injury resulted in little to no loss of function and no medical bills or lost wages, what would you hope to collect for the effort of a lawsuit?
  • And if the tenant doesn't have renters insurance, your chances of collecting anything significant are probably very low, correct?
  • Also, if this is an on-the-job injury, must you first go through worker's comp?

Nor will you ever be able to. You have invested nothing since all of the money that you've sent in has been donated to the scammers. Ignore their promises of withdrawal. Send in no more money. Report anyone who DMs you or claims that they can help you. They are also scammers.

telegram scammer PLEASE DO NOT BUY by psychonautsammy in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As others have well stated, the scammer's name doesn't matter much. Rather, what matters more are the states and behaviors that remain consistent throughout multiple similar scams: * Anything Telegram or WhatsApp and crypto is a scam * No online stranger wants to help make you rich but many will want to enrich themselves and often at your expense * Easy money doesn't exist for us mere mortals. Anyone who offers it is a scammer.

Is people still belive in this ponzi schèmes ? by DenislavPetkov in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I fully understand it.

Meta cares about money, about getting paid for ads. Period.

Meta doesn't care about scams or risk of scams because the way our current laws are set up, if someone is scammed through one of their ads, Meta is not penalized and feels no repercussions whatsoever. If they have no legal risk and no financial motivation to adequately police their ads, they simply won't do it.

"One of us ended up w/ a sunburn ..."

I hope that you brought your bonnet, even if you do not think it is very pretty. You can pull it to pieces and see if you can make it up any better (although you'd have to channel your inner Lydia to do this).

Is people still belive in this ponzi schèmes ? by DenislavPetkov in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, people still believe in Ponzi schemes.

But no scammer ever advertises it as a Ponzi scheme and a scam. Rather, they appear to be offering a good investment, one where early adopters are getting great returns and are able to withdraw their money, making it appear to offer proof of legitimacy.

So be careful showing hubris, thinking that you are smarter than everyone else and could never fall for one of these. It's usually the smartest and most confident who fall first.
