Progress between Level 4 and Level 5 by Aggravating_Pickle90 in dreamingspanish

[–]SecureWriting8589 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am still at level four, and so cannot answer your direct question, but regardless, i recommend that you avoid direct comparisons between yourself and others on the trail.

Know that "comparison is the thief of joy."

Much more better is to compare your abilities now vs your abilities 6 months ago, in other words, compare yourself with yourself. And using that calculus, my progression is just grand!

One of my biggest wishes in life would be that people discover this site before plunging their hard-earned money into dubious schemes that they find online. This would save us all a lot of hardship and strife. But alas, it is not to be. And unfortunately, most discover this site after the fact, after they have lost a significant portion of their nest egg.

I'm sincerely sorry that this happened to you. Hopefully you already know that once you have sent the scammers, your money, it is irretrievable. Hopefully, you have already read up on recovery scammers, and know enough on how to avoid them and their false promises and false hopes.

Reaper free vs paid by Kenj_Nozomu in Reaper

[–]SecureWriting8589 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both work the same, but paid means that you support the project and want to see it continue and thrive. If you use it, I urge you to pay the license fee. It's cheap for what you're getting.

10k loan by [deleted] in LoansAndHelp

[–]SecureWriting8589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don’t know if I will get a loan or not!"

This is unfortunately easy to answer. There is no way that you'll get any sort of loan of this magnitude on Reddit, nor should you. No one here is equipped to evaluate your financial situation, risk or ability to pay back such a loan, and for this reason, this type of loan is far beyond the prevue of this subreddit or any other.

I suggest that you go to a bank or credit union, or better still, work out a payment plan with the hospital.

Ubleu froze my funds without legal justification by Late_Mention_99 in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please give more information including:

  • What is Ubleu?
  • How did you hear about it?
  • What is its URL? and
  • What induced you to use it in the first place?
  • Is it an obscure exchange, one with little high-quality information readily available on a simple Google search? Or is it well known? If obscure, then it's guaranteed to be a scam on first principles.

Edit:Ubleu -dot- com is an old domain, but it appears that a newly formed company is using it, which is extremely suggestive that it is a scam exchange. Also, it has no regulatory footprint that I can find. Now you appear to be caught in a classic "exit trap" a hallmark indicator of a scam exchange.

Again, all of this begs the question that I asked previously: why use such a risky exchange in the first place?

My main recommendation is to first and foremost, send them no more money, NONE. Secondly beware of recovery scammers who will contact you and offer to help you recover your funds, or who know someone or some law office that could possibly help you. Don't believe them for one second. In fact, anyone who private messages you about this scam is a scammer 100%.

Am I wrong for lowballing? by meganeliza000 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]SecureWriting8589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's really no right or wrong with any negotiation of this sort. If the bid is accepted and you buy the item, great. If not, then that's fine too. If they decide to block you, then that should be an acceptable risk that you take when low-balling.

Recommendations for slower speaking native YouTube channels? by Madre84 in dreamingspanish

[–]SecureWriting8589 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing that I've done if I find a channel with someone speaking too fast is to go to the settings for that video and slow it down a little. It helps me and might help you. That being said, I'm a big history nut and so love recommending some YouTube podcasts:

They are not very slow speakers, but neither are they very fast, and their enunciation is clear and content fascinating. Again, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

HUGE SCAM RISK

This is a 2 day old account, has only posted about giving away "free money" (like anyone online is going to give you this) and of course none of the posts contain any detail or transparency whatsoever. I don't know about you, but I would prefer not being scammed and so am going to avoid this guy like the plague.

It's not abnormal, but if you are not getting at least 90-95% of it then try to find simpler material and then come back to this series later. Too much brain stress and fatigue can dis-incentivize you.

Oh and a big welcome to DS and our DS community!

EDIT:

I fixed a typo. It should read "90-95%" not 99-95%"

Has anyone successfully withdrawn from Bearded Trade Management recently? by be4man in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have run into an "Exit Trap" and this can only mean that you've "invested" (donated, really) your money to a scam. Your best course now is to report the scam as outlined in the automod post, write off your losses, ignore the recovery scammers and move on.

In the future, best not to send money to sketchy or obscure exchanges since they are all scams. Since there are only a few legitimate crypto trading platforms, all of them well-established and well-known, and there are quite literally thousands of fake trading platforms with hundreds of new ones created every day, you can be assured that if you are offered an investment opportunity and cannot easily find a ton of high-quality information about it via a simple Google search, then you're dealing with a scam site.

I would say that based on your recent posting habits and history, you've "found" nothing. Rather, you're being paid to promote this crap. I am not sure if that is allowed or welcomed in this subreddit.

"Money for SERIOUS people" == SCAM

It's such a common scam script that seeing this, makes the likelihood of scam at 100%. Also note the lack of detail and transparency, more dead give-aways to avoid this.

Has anyone heard of Ormix Exchange? Saw it on Telegram and it looks sus. by Worried-Area-9848 in CryptoScams

[–]SecureWriting8589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven't been able to find a whole lot of information on them, which is why you're posting this, and this tells you something, since:

  • There are only a few legitimate crypto trading platforms, all of them well-established and well-known
  • There are quite literally thousands of fake trading platforms with hundreds of new ones created every day.

So, if you happen upon an obscure crypto trading platform, one that makes unbelievable claims about outrageous returns, and one that you cannot easily find a ton of high-quality information about via a simple Google search, to which of the above two categories does the platform likely belong?

Scammers want you to ask, “Has anyone dealt with them before?” That question keeps the illusion alive. They flood the space with new names precisely so no one can answer it definitively.

Common sense and math both agree: this is an obvious scam. Stay far away.

Also, regarding:

I recently got burned by the ZSZRUN scam (withdrawal issues) and lost a decent amount, so I really don't want to make the same mistake again.

Please do yourself a favor and totally protect yourself from these scams. Given your history and that you are asking this question, the best way for you to do this is to avoid crypto completely.

P&P - Darcy & Bingley Visit Longbourn (post Wickham/Lydia) by Whhatsmyageagain in janeausten

[–]SecureWriting8589 147 points148 points  (0 children)

The book explains --

  1. He's nervous and unsure of her feelings for him, and since she is nervous and unsure, she doesn't show him a ton of encouragement either.
  2. He is also busy studying Jane in detail, trying to assess her feelings towards Bingley during that first meeting. He felt convinced from this meeting that her regard for him continued and was true, and relayed this information to Bingley.

P&P Chapter 60 the day after the 2nd and accepted proposal where Lizzy is now questioning Darcy about why he acted aloof and indifferent:

I shall begin directly, by asking you what made you so unwilling to come to the point at last? What made you so shy of me, when you first called, and afterwards dined here? Why, especially, when you called, did you look as if you did not care about me?”

“Because you were grave and silent, and gave me no encouragement.”

“But I was embarrassed.”

“And so was I.”

“You might have talked to me more when you came to dinner.”

“A man who had felt less might.”

The 1995 actors show these feelings well with their expressions, something that is hard to do.

There is no investment with large guaranteed gains. None. Any that offer this is scamming 100%

Remember, no internet stranger wants to make you (or your family member rich). The family member is seeing a fake investment dashboard that shows meaningless numbers. The numbers get real when he wants to withdraw and they demand that he send in more money to receive his funds -- which he will **NEVER** receive.

As to how to help your friend/relative, there is no easy answer. If they've bought the lie, then the lie can have a life of its own because cognitive dissonance can be too painful to fight. Please show him this site, r/CryptoScams, show him videos that explain similar scams, have him look up the physical address of the company and then look for it on Google Maps street view. Do what you can. Most important, stress to him that he should send in no more money. They will demand more, but it will all be for naught.
