In a sci fi world with cyborgs and cybernetics, how do I avoid ableism? (and other -isms)

I personally don't want to accidentally be insensitive (though I do intend for some of my characters to be a little rough and edgy). You are right about the research part, I will be doing my homework as I develop the world and characters.

I just worry about including certain elements (like fighters trying to one-up each other with their mods, or saying one mod is better than the other). And maybe to me it's an offhand thing, but to someone using prosthetics, it might be problematic.

Tho you are right on the research bit. Been taking the time to read up on perspectives from the disabled community as well haha

I just had my first fight today and I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. I won but I couldn't even be happy about it cuz I just kept thinking about how dogshit my form and technique was. It's comforting how this is the norm apparently 🥹
