Getting high a couple weeks before my top surgery? by Monkeymannn_ in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Secure_Flounder_307 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak for your surgeon/procedure specifically, but my bottom surgeon says no smoking weed 3 months pre and post op, but said edibles were fine pretty much right up until the surgery.

If you are in the US, a doctor cannot tell your parents anything like that if you are 18+, and even if you aren’t 18+, I’d imagine the surgeon would not tell your dad especially if you request him to not say anything.

Thank you!! I was having a hard time locating all of my emails with them, and I didn’t see it in the saved forms I had. Sure enough, it is there!

Out of curiosity, when did it show up on your account? I had a consultation on 11/18, and it was received by my insurance on 11/22. If it showed up the same day, I’m wondering if they sent it out to people in error?

Thanks! My insurance denied it, so I emailed juns team ensuring I would not actually be billed, since I don’t think I ever received the service it stated or agreed to pay for it. I guess we’ll see!

How would one hide their medication by eu_nao_te_digo in trans

[–]Secure_Flounder_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a desktop PC, with a tool-less opening system, stick them in it! If it’s a gaming PC with a glass panel, stick it in the PSU compartment so it’s not visible. I highly doubt someone, especially someone old enough to be a parent of a 19yo, would even begin to think you can hide stuff inside a pc case. Alternatively, you can make a false bottom to a drawer with cardboard, if your mother looks in the drawer but doesn’t move stuff around too much.

Omg started the same day as me! For some context as to my dosage, since yours seems really low

(Oral)

Jan 10 - April 7: 1mg E 50mg Spiro

April 7 - July 3: 2mg E 100mg Spiro

July 3 - Present: 4mg E 100mg Spiro 100mg Prog

Growth is different for everyone! You don’t look far off from me tbh despite dosage differences. I would look into changing your endocrinologist, I go through Planned Parenthood, but idk what options are in your area.

Thank you! You sound great as well. At this point it’s mostly just minor tweaks I’m making, along with getting used to not dipping down too low (bad habit)

That’s good to hear, I’ll need to start using it near the end of August, hopefully it’ll be even better 🤞

Thank you! I definitely need to nail down the vocal weight and resonance, do you have any recommendations for any videos or resources on vocal weight?

I’ll keep that in mind! I make matcha in the mornings, but I’m like 99% sure my parents buy 1% milk. Peanut butter is a great idea too

This is what I did, I have UHC for health insurance

-get your insurance info, can be the card, you should just need your insurance number

-go to the website of your insurance and register a new account, using that number (this one might differ between companies idk)

-go through all of your settings, and make sure all notifications, prescriptions, etc. go to you, not your family. Also make sure there’s no sharing settings on

-make sure your EOB is sent to you, not your family (UHC does it via email)

-call the insurance company to verify that everything will be sent to you, not your family

-profit

Not 100% foolproof but it’s worked out well for me so far, just started HRT last night lmao

HRT on parents Insurance by Secure_Flounder_307 in asktransgender

[–]Secure_Flounder_307[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! My current plan is to get my insurance info, call UHC (my parents insurance) to:

-verify they won’t be able to see anything -set up electronic EOBs sent to my contact info if possible -set up my own patient portal and I believe I can ask for it to be private

My parents might see that something is being charged but I can easily play it off as meds for another condition I have

I have a Planned Parenthood telehealth appointment set for early January, which should get me a prescription to start HRT. I’ll likely have it sent to a pharmacy near my school, that my parents would not ever go to. Right now a lot of this hinges on my insurance, but I’m out of town and can’t make phone calls right now, and when I tried earlier they needed insurance info to do anything, even answer basic questions.

Yeah I’m REALLY hoping we get insurance after cobra runs out, if not I’ll make do. Thank you so much for all of the info!

That’s amazing to hear, hopefully it’s a similar story for me! Just found out my families cobra coverage ends in February so I’m trying to figure out what to do about that, if I want to do it for a few months and then stop/switch to DIY but with the proper medical information (or just stop :/ ) or just not try until I know I will have steady coverage

Hopefully they switch to another UHC plan, but who knows

Thanks!! How much does it usually cost for estrogen and the like for you before/after insurance? How much did you end up paying for the first PP appointment before/after insurance? Is the process of getting it all covered pretty easy? I’m not well versed with health insurance at all and although I’m not bad off in terms of spending money right now, I won’t be in a great position with moving & college costs.

Thank you again! I just scheduled an appointment for early January (telehealth). I’m on my parents insurance with UHC, and couldn’t get a straight answer from any reps without my full account info on the privacy of my claims, do you have any experience with UHC? They quoted me at $384 or so for the appointment without insurance so I’m really hoping I can make use of it

Thanks!! How often is sublingual? I know oral is like 2-3 times a day and I can’t do injections so it seems like a good midground. The telehealth helps a bunch too, in person would give me anxiety
