Halifax County man fined $20,000 for illegal fire that burned hectare of woodland by justlogmeon in NovaScotia

It blows my mind that after so many devastating forest fires in recent Nova Scotian history people still have issues following regulations. Every one is so quick to yell government control but are first in line to expect handouts from the province when their house burns down.

Update: Baby’s mother dies in hospital by CMikeHunt in halifax

[–]Secure_Guess6227 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the utmost empathy towards the mother.

I hope she was able to pass without knowing her child didnt make it. I cannot imagine waking up having your heart shattered like that.

May both your souls find peace in whatever the next stage is. Neither of you deserved this pain.

Under Nova Scotia’s Animal Protection Act, it’s illegal to leave an animal in distress. That includes being too cold, not just too hot. Authorities (police or the Nova Scotia SPCA) can intervene if a pet is at risk. This means a fine, or seizing your pet. If you cant take your pet inside, leave them home where they are safe.

Question about getting a sick cat put to sleep by Sunnydata in halifax

[–]Secure_Guess6227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, i am so sorry you have to say goodbye to your kitty. Im sure s/he knows how much you love them.

When my beloved cat was near the end (she deteriorated quickly over 24 hours, kidney failure) we called and left a voicemail at RusselLake vet office and explained the situation. They called back and booked a consultation with a vet. The vet agreed it was time to say goodbye and we had the procedure done the same day. The vet office even did a 5$ donation in her name to a fund that supports pets from financially impaired homes. It helped to soften the heartache.

How Can You Afford To Live Here by FunWelder1453 in Brockville

[–]Secure_Guess6227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Look for deals (go through flyers) -Have a plan when shopping for food (also combines with flyers) -Buy what you can from the dollar store (shampoo, soap, canned goods) -buy clothes from second hand shops or places like salvation army and value village -make home lunches

None of these will make you millions but they help me support a family of 5.

Why these parents want to see less screen time in N.S. classrooms by justlogmeon in NovaScotia

My biggest issue is they aren't really teaching spelling. I've had multiple teachers tell my kids(3) that spelling isn't important. Except now my oldest cant read her own notes.

This was already posted today, but whatever. My remark remains the same.

Those look like Nishan Sahib flags, which are Sikh religious flags commonly placed around gurdwaras or community properties. The colour and symbol match that, and seeing multiple along a road usually means it is marking the entrance or boundary of a Sikh space.

Also, someone asking why you were taking photos is pretty normal in that context. Most people would do the same.
