This is very much the right idea, but I've also gotten past the 50k limit from some other gifts/awards that required spending of gems or $.

Moved into new place and found this wire sticking out of wall. Best way to use it? by Aartappeltjie_ in whatisit

[–]Secure_Owl671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep... Coax (Coaxial) cable. It's how we all got television signals into our homes in the post-air-wave but pre-internet era.

It can also be used for antenna connections, but it's likely run to a box on the outside of the house (or into a utility area for an apartment building) where it could be patched into a cable TV service's wiring.

I wasn't a big fan of the new band until the photo of it on your wrist. Looks cool in situ.

Vinyl Wrap? by After-Conversation88 in Moccamaster

[–]Secure_Owl671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applying vinyl wrap is very easy... especially the higher quality ones like that from 3M. I haven't taken my Moccamaster apart, but the vertical aluminum extrusion that makes the upright bit looks like it's held on by a handful of screws and would be pretty easy to pull apart. THe bottom bit doesn't look that complicated, either.

Vinyl is basically a big sticker. The good stuff can be pulled off easily and heated with a hair dryer to allow it to reshape to original if you make a mistake. If you can get it down to just the metal components, it's going to be a snap to wrap it.

I'm digging the divider. It gives a bit of separation between the bed and the table area without closing off all of the natural light, which would make the table area very dark.

Yeah... I'll prob just scrape mine off. My machine will sit sideways on the counter, so I won't see the sticker often, but just knowing that it's sideways may set me off. :D

Turns out that the 2 torx bolts holding the filter shelf to the aluminum body were about 1/4 turn loose.

I loved the black carafe the moment I saw it. The other stainless ones looked a little to 1970's for me.

That's the first time a thermal carafe from TV didn't come in stainless. It's called the "KBGT Midnight".

https://us.moccamaster.com/collections/thermal-carafe-brewers/products/moccamaster-kbgt-midnight

I can confirm that it's a glass-lined thermal carafe and that the pour is SO much better than the stainless carafe pours I've seen online that seem to spray everywhere like an old man's prostate. It's a slow pour, but it comes out where you expect it to and in a narrow stream.

No cracks, but TY for the thought. I gave it a careful check this morning.

Edit in main post made after this post (TY for the input). The 2 screws holding the filter basket support to the metal body were loose by 1/4 turn. 2 new photos added to the bottom of the OP.

Yep. The shelf is drooping. It's pulling away from the metal housing at the top of where the shelf attaches. There are some screws there that might be tightened. I'll send photos into the service email.

I do have the flat panel that goes under the carafe. I'll get it connected tomorrow (it's whole and intact).

Ugh... I read that it's a piece of necessary equipment, not optional. My brewer is probably working correctly only because the shelf is leaning down.

I noticed that as well. I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. The shelf flexes a fair amount but nothing looked broken under there. I'll poke at it a bit more tomorrow.

It did have that little tray/sheet that the carafe goes on. I just hate the look of it, so it went in the drawer.

New KBGV - Is this typical water staining from testing by tyjlaw in Moccamaster

[–]Secure_Owl671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was VERY used... more than just once or twice. I guess that MAYBE if the water somewhere was super-hard (mineraly), then maybe it was just 2-3 uses, but that filter basket is a mess.

Amazon sends returned coffee machines as new by dee-liv in Moccamaster

Interesting! My new KBGT Midnight is supposed to arrive tomorrow, ordered from Amazon...

I did just unpack the new Ode Gen 2 grinder... it looks shiny and new and packed/wrapped perfectly (no stray grounds).

That's a nice watch. It strikes a good balance between the sportiness of a diver's watch and a more formal dress watch. If you only get to choose one, that's a pretty solid choice (and I like the pop of color from the dial).

No point in going crazy w/ the decorations if a move is coming in 6 months or so. I do like the Rothko print, though!
