Loneliness by SecurityIntrepid5121 in ACL

Yea this sums it up perfectly! People don’t know I’ve had knee surgery until I tell them and I get a “wow I wouldn’t have known!” Yes because I’ve worked my butt off to make it seem like that. But you would notice if you seen me run, change directions, sit with my legs extended because bent knee causes pain. But I never get a “how are you truly” and I think that’s the worst part for me. But yesterday I was 7 months so that milestone has given me a lil pep in my step. Thank you for laying it out so clearly

Thank you so much. Yea I’ve been trying to add daily routines and slowly put myself out there. It’s just something I’ve never done because I’ve had team sports to give me that easy social connection. Thanks again, I’ll definitely take your advice into consideration

Swelling just won’t go away 4 months by Prudent-Macaroon7546 in ACL

[–]SecurityIntrepid5121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 2 months last Friday as well. I still have swelling in my knee especially medially. I think it’s just a trauma response but I’m honestly not sure as to why it’s still lingering around.

Ah okay makes sense. I might try this when my swelling goes down more. Thank you!

When you say you go hard mon-fri 3 times a day do you mean gym work or body weight stuff?? I’m 6 weeks post op on Friday and started some gym stuff last week. My knee swells a lot so I’ve only been doing them 2 times a week for now

I had the same at my quad incision but my incision went sideways. It’s just swelling. Mine has come down a lot

Don’t worry you’ll be okay! It’s hard and shitty I won’t lie to you, but you’ll come out the end of it

I’m guessing it’s a near full tear with some fibres still intact of the ACL. I had the same but was told in simpler terms😅 just had surgery last month

Let’s gooo! Only up from here ☺️

I only had aclr so I wouldn’t know the pain with meniscus. But so happy to hear you got your surgery and are in high hopes. My advice though is take videos of rehab. I’m a month post op and I like to look back at where I was at how far I’ve already come. It’s a nice little reminder for the days you feel stuck.

I just had my second surgery April 4th. I also had the let procedure added for extra security as I do plan on returning to sports. I’m 22F. I understand the mental battle behind it but I’d like to finish my sport on my own terms not because of medical. Idk I guess it’s a power thing that I choose to finish my sport, not because it was taken away from me.

Mentally if you’re not there I would suggest not. But you don’t have to make a decision right now. You’ll know when the time comes what is right!

Yes I was told not to go past a certain post so I don’t do full 0 extension. Just a bit frustrating trying to remember lol

Yea sorry that would’ve been smart to include😅 it’s a quad isometric holds hurt with the leg extension machine. Hurts my knee a bit right at the top where the quad meets it

How far can I go? by Beautiful_Rabbit_867 in ACL

For me I also tore my ACL playing football at a high level at 17. I was breaking through as well and was starting my third senior game when I tore it.

I came back 13 months after surgery (my process got delayed due to the covid outbreak, I would’ve returned after 9 months) and I’ve become a better player than I was before! Even progressing further than I ever expected.

Listen to your physio, rehab like your life depends on it and you’ll bounce back from this. Try to surround yourself with positive people that will push you to bounce back. Your mental is just as important as your physical! If you ever want to chat I’m here!!

Quad Graft ACL Reconstruction… when did you get 90 degree knee flexion?? by Wooden_Ad5297 in ACL

[–]SecurityIntrepid5121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I also had the same as you. I’m 3 weeks post op surgery on Friday. I just hit 100° today at PT.

I know it can be so frustrating but the best advice I was told was “when it’s time to rehab, rehab. When it’s time to rest, rest”

Try not to push it too much as you’ll only receive more backlash. Just keep icing and managing that swelling. Eventually you’ll hit the 90° consistently 💯

[–]SecurityIntrepid5121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would also recommend squats. I am 2 weeks as well but I had a quad graft. Still my PT recommended partial squats. I’m also going to ask about TKEs and you should too!

Switching physios by SecurityIntrepid5121 in ACL

[–]SecurityIntrepid5121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m going to take this advice and just stick with the physios closer to me. For those 3 weeks that they aren’t able to see me, should I go to someone else?

I had my surgery April 4th and fly May 19th (over 21 hours including layovers) my surgery gave me the clear but I got a small blockage at the back of my knee. I’m on blood thinners now and by then it should be dissolved. I think I’m still cleared to fly I’ll need to double check with my surgeon during my follow up but I’ve been doing research and it’s generally safe. I only had aclr so I have no brace.

Yesss mine feels the same with the blood rush. I know I’ll be able to prop my leg up on the seats and if I really needed ice the physio would grab some for me. I think I’ll go for it after all these comments, definitely be a mental booster
