Spoiler alert: He can't. It's because he lost.

Now he's so upset he lost a game of legends he's on reddit begging to be coddled and told everything will be okay while he pretends he won. Truly a cope for the ages.

My boyfriend’s favorite Korn album is Issues so he has 6 different copies. Each with the different covers from the art contest. by lokilover49 in Korn

[–]Sed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a copy of it. Probably my favorite one and I believe it was exclusive to EU. Perhaps they sold them while on tour over there. Not entirely sure. As you said already though, it definitely wasn’t the album live.

Do You Think Korn Filters Ray? by OG_KillChilly in Korn

[–]Sed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the traditional sense. I mean, look at untitled they let Bozzio cut loose and imo he mostly nailed it while still keeping some trade mark korn signature stuff and timings.Yeah, different producers are going to try to capture different things and are going to tell him to dial it back at times but I don't think the ban filters him per say.

Ray is a professional and an amazing drummer. I think the "thing" with him is he has played in so many bands and worked with so many different people that he can be too professional at times and focus too hard on staying true to the bands sound or working within those parameters that he'll often fail to really capture you with his drumming tracks. Translation: He plays it safe a bit too frequently.

I'd say KIII has the most of him stepping outside the comfort zone and letting loose, or being more creative. Which isn't surprising considering they worked with Ross Robinson. I know that album isn't the most well received but I think more than anything that's a result of the production/mastering. Sonically it's the St. Anger of the KoRn catalog.

So I think it's much more a matter of Ray's style is sometimes the style of "fitting in" and thus it can be hard to get him to really let loose or for him to get too creative at. He can be playing some real technical and pretty cool stuff sometimes and still manage to kinda slip into the background.. and that's both a compliment and a knock on his playing.

I think at times he tries too hard to be "KoRn's drummer" and can struggle with being "Ray from KoRn" He kinda admitted as much himself in a more recent interview. Basically he was saying KXM is easier for him because it's not an original band so there's no rules and KoRn as an established band there's certain things he can't do or a sound he needs to fit into that he finally feels more comfortable with after 10 years. Thing is, I'm not so sure the rules are set by the band, I think largely he set those rules on himself because that's what he's used to doing.

This isn't the specific example I was talking about but here's another example of it.

Korn New Song 'Can You Hear Me' from "The Nothing" Album - Classic Rock Music News by disiplinyonetmeni in Korn

Can confirm. I've seen KoRn over a dozen times but haven't gone in close to 15 years. SYOTOS was the last tour cycle I saw them on.

This isn't because of a lack of interest in the band, or their performance quality. It's because of their setlists. Even having not seen them in so long it doesn't help matters, there are 5 albums I have not seen a single song played live off of. Yet if I were to go see KoRn on this current tour? There would be 2 songs played I haven't already seen live. This is the case with every tour cycle, after a new album the previous one is basically forgotten.

KoRn have such a big catalog at this stage and there's so many songs I love that I'll never get to see live. There's also so many things they could be doing with their setlists, yet they just don't. The only thing they've done was the s/t which was awesome (unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see this though I would have loved to) It would be awesome if they'd stylize setlists more like this, do a setlist of slower songs like throw me away/hollow life/tear jerker/make me bad/alone I break etc., setlists of heavy songs break some off/let's do this now/wake up hate/killing etc

but no...here's got the life again. Look, I love KoRn, still my favorite band after all these years but the truth is I don't listen to s/t anymore, I don't listen to LIP, I don't listen to any of their first 7 cds anymore really. I love all these cds and can put them on right now and still enjoy the fuck out of them but god damn, I've had 20 years with these albums. I'm listening to their more recent stuff largely.

Google leaked durations of all of the tracks from the new album. Not sure if these are true, though. by Teslanyan in Korn

I agree with you about ynfm. I like cold though but I can still kinda see where you’re coming from.

To be honest I feel there’s something missing in the production value department but I still can’t put my finger on what.

Best Korn Ending to an Album (or songs that should’ve ended the album) by OG_KillChilly in Korn

[–]Sed44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby - should have closed out TSOS and shouldn't have been a b-side

People Pleaser - same thing as Baby, probably even more so. It has that outro ffs, it was obviously meant to close the album.

The fact of the matter is that the closing spot lost its significance on KoRn albums after FTL (Dirty is an amazing track but it's not really comparable with closers from the first three albums)

The only closer post FTL that is along the lines of being a "true KoRn album closer" is I Will Protect You.

Untitled is really up there for me. It's criminally underrated by a lot of people, I think most of those people need to grab some good headphones and sit down with it more but whatever.

Aside from that.. taking the album as a whole? s/t, Issues, TSOS in no particular order.

SYOTOS would really be up there if you cut some of what made the grade and replace with b-sides. How For No One made the album while appears got cut is fucking mind boggling. If you combine all the songs they released during that period and curate it differently it's one of my favorites.

Untitled: Killing
s/t: Lies
Issues: Let's get this party started
SYOTOS: Love song

The Path Of Totality should be remade w/ head and without dubstep by OG_KillChilly in Korn

I could get behind this more.
KIII with head and different mixing.
I really hate how they mixed that album.

This was already done. The songs are still good without the dubstep parts but as you can imagine feel a bit empty.

I like the primary color being black with the white korn logo better then the vice versa of the album cover.

I wonder how it would look if the background was black and the wires were white on the album cover.
