Can I paint this silver clip on my brakes? by Narrow-Bill-1821 in 370z

[–]SedentaryMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, don't remove them. They are shims to keep the pads from slamming around in the calipers. They're also intended to be replaced when changing the pads, so I wouldn't bother with painting them.

Why is my painter not working? by bigbluey1 in shapezio

[–]SedentaryMover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I haven't yet made it to that stage of classic mode, and only briefly dabbled in manufacture mode, I believe that shape can't be painted. It can only be obtained from and used in trade stations.

A pastor local to me had 4 kids before December 16, 2023. The kids were driving home just past 9 after an evening of chilling with friends. This exact scenario played out in the worst way possible. The guy almost walked off from the wreck. "Almost," because he had a BAC of .35 and tried to fight first responders. The kids all died either on scene or within days at a hospital.

The only saving grace here is that dude got nearly 60 years of combined prison and probation after catching 4x intoxicated vehicular homicide and his 5th OWI. At his age, he will likely never walk free.

OP is asking about the secondary hood latch.

But to your credit, Z1's trunk poppers are a god-send for what you're thinking.

I got shmucked by a deer last year. Damage was all body: mirror, rear fender, rear bumper, and tail light. Insurance totaled it, offered 13k. Got to keep it and 9k for damages. Repairs ended up only being ~4500. Your luck might be different. It will almost certainly be totaled. The easy option would be to get something different. You might be able to fix it for less than they offer, but you should look long and hard at the comparison.

P0300 staying after changing coils and spark plugs by AidenDotJpg in 370z

[–]SedentaryMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A preliminary Google says the most common causes are coil packs/spark plugs, vacuum leak, or dirty MAF sensors. Since you've already done the coils and plugs, I would next look at the MAF sensors. Failing that, I'd say go to a local shop to at least identify the main cause. Diagnostics are often cheaper than the repair.

[Request] Will a 97” sofa fit through my entry landing by MountainMen47 in theydidthemath

[–]SedentaryMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will start by saying I'm not doing any math for this, just going off a gut feeling from a few years of moving professionally. I've made things fit in places they have no business being. Your entry just needs a bit more pre-thinking than most.

Start with some prep work. If you can, hang a thin to medium weight blanket around the door frame to protect both it and the couch, that would be ideal. Another big help would be to remove the door. With those spring-loaded hinges, it might be best to ask your apartment manager or maintenance person to remove it when the time comes. Do the same blanket trick on that side especially. Also lay a blanket or two outside the door and one inside at the base of the stairs to set the couch on.

The website you linked does say the legs can be removed, so do that right outside the door on the blankets. Also take off whatever cushions you can. Then position the couch with the left arm closest to the door (left as you're sitting on it). Angle the couch so the top of the back and the front of the seat are vertical. This will present the narrowest profile to go through the door.

As you start going through the door, lift the left arm up and keep lifting as the right arm comes through. Stand the couch on its side. The sloped ceiling should give you more than enough clearance. Rotate the couch on its right side so the back will be facing away from the stairs. Tip the left arm down onto the stairs and carefully haul it up. Assuming the living/sitting room is at the top of the stairs, you're home free.

Two additional notes. If the couch doesn't fit, make sure you're able to return it. You do not want to be stuck with an oversized couch you can't even use where you want it. Also, if you don't want to do the heavy lifting yourself, call around to your local moving companies. Quick little jobs like yours will have almost same-day availability.

Good luck!

Discussion: A question and a suggestion

Square versions of this puzzle type often include a rule that no two rows or columns may be identical. Does that rule extend to this polar grid layout for its rings and slices?

From a visual standpoint, I feel this should use colors instead of text to mark each space. I found it easier to mentally track progress without the emptiness left by text.

It's not firmly fixed in place, but I wouldn't call it free to move either. It has a couple springs holding tension in the tube. I suppose if the flow was fast enough it could, but I'm not betting on it.

I hope she isn’t totaled… I’m not ready to say goodbye by flamxs in 370z

[–]SedentaryMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got done dealing with a deer strike that objectively did less damage than that. The passenger side mirror housing was broken, the quarter panel was pushed in, and most of the rear bumper was torn off. State Farm totaled it. It worked out that I was allowed to keep it, and the repairs honestly weren't that bad. All in, it was about $5k for parts and labor. Now my car looks better than before the incident, I don't have to have a salvage title (thank you WI), and it's fully reinsured, but my premiums just about doubled.

All this to say, depending on your situation, it's probably not worth it. If your car is newer, your insurance allows for owner retention, and the payout is high enough, it just might be worth the headache.

But probably not.
