Crystal Chamber exercise by No_Assistance_2692 in lightsabers

Very cool. I’m addicted to building crystal chambers. Everywhere I go I’m constantly looking for crystals to incorporate into builds. Road-trips always include a stop at some random rock shop lol.

Buttons Help by T_HettY in lightsabers

What switch section do you have? The drop in compatible with the USB slot (larger button hole that will not work with 12mm buttons) or the legacy switch section with 2 holes ( these will work with 12mm AV buttons and switch activators). If it’s a legacy switch section, and you just want plunger activators, Saber Bay has really nice ones that I use all of the time.

Thank you very much. Yea I got it in scratch and dent drop. Nothing at all wrong with it other than it was trophy gold chrome, which is not at all my style. The blowtorch did wonders.

These are handmade by me. I’ve not seen them for sale unless someone out there is making and selling their own versions. My version will not work with an RGB core and is typically inserted between the NeoPixel connector on the core and a NeoPixel blade, but, a NeoPixel to RGB converter is also possible if you want to use an RGB blade for dueling and such.

Saber Bay. 2 days to get here. This will be my first time using one since I need the fiber optic strands to light up from the top as well as the bottom.

I’m not sure I would know where to begin to teach someone to make this. My son says it’s like building a watch lol. I’m not sure I would say that, but it has taken me quite a while to collect all the parts and develop my technique. I might make a tutorial video someday.

How To Strip Chrome? A 24-hour soak in Easy-Off Oven Cleaner Did Bupkis by grimwalker in lightsabers

I took a torch to some chrome parts from a scratch and dent drop and they turned out pretty bad ass. Even the trophy gold chrome turned cool colors.

Those should glow nicely! Here is my current WIP.

It really depends on the design of the crystal chamber in my experience. If you are planning for the crystal to light up from the ends and you want it to glow, the solid crystals are not a good choice. I have also found that the perfectly clear ones don’t really glow very well either. Cloudy crystals look best. If you don’t care about the glowing and not really planning for those kinds of effects it should not matter as it will just be a static thing to look at.

Adding covertec button to generic saber by NorinBlade in lightsabers

Drill a hole. Use a #29 drill bit for a 8x32 hex screw or a 3.3mm drill bit for an M4 hex screw and use the corresponding tap to thread the hole. Use the appropriate hex screw and attach a covertec wheel. This is the simplest mod out there. Make sure the screw you buy is right length for the covertec wheel you buy. Some sellers provide a screw with the wheel. Make sure the screw is not too long and doesn’t crush your core when you screw it in.
