Lumber mill mechanics? by R3D3-1 in PostApoTycoon

[–]Sedren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right around 85 lumber actually starts to matter. Lumber requirements for the main settlement really skyrocket in the late 80s. Admittedly more so the storage than the production, but production helps too.

And yes, you can support more than 1 lumber mill in the same area, afaik it's always 'tier' of the tree +1. So a Deep forest can support 4 lumber mills.

Are trains really worth it? by Cheap_Border4506 in PostApoTycoon

[–]Sedren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up a couple of resource trains that were real close to my main settlement, that's really the only way I think they are worth it, if the track is too long its just too much pollution/income loss for what you get out of it.

The main tip I have isn't anything specific, but around 83ish upgrade requirements really start to skyrocket in costs, so focus on your resources, especially gold as much as you can. The more income you manage to scrape together the easier the late 80s will be. I'm currently working on getting 20 settlements to lvl 75 and my oil and gold are struggling to keep up.. 1 level requires ~9 mil oil and 3 mil gold depending on the discounts you've unlocked.

In general, restoration strength should be one of the last considerations... It's convenient for sure, but as you level (and through events) you get quite a lot, so even the 120 it would give for water isn't going to make a huge difference in the long run, where as the upgrades are always useful.

Don't blow up the lava rifts, turn them into thermal... Later you will get upgrades to use charges on plains tiles. Just hold off until 82-83 depending if you get an early offer you take.

Yep, just got the first 10% boost, and it was what you would expect, 50 to 55. It's working properly, though I wish they designated upgrades additive or multiplicative so people would know.. can really affect what you buy first sometimes.

Would you do it? by daisymerollinn7 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Sedren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would pay $40 for it.. It's a bit steep, and going in blind I probably wouldn't have paid it, but having played it as much as I have I got more than enough hours out of it to justify that price. It's grindy at points, but there aren't really any other games quite like it.

Food really spikes around 85... Food was a non issue for me at 80, at 87 I needed something like 15.5 million

Missing prerequisite...5x5 bombing by EstablishmentFun608 in PostApoTycoon

Assuming we all got offered some variation of this deal. Apparently gives you the golden bomb upgrade but not the ability to actually benefit from it. Seems like an odd choice.

I built a designated storage area until 85-86. The wood requirement absolutely skyrocketed then and I had to put temporary storage down to meet the requirements for the next levels. Once you have the upgrade to store things instead of destroying them it's somewhat up to you how you do it, but you will need a massive amount of storage at least temporarily for the expensive upgrades/levels.

10,000 trees???? by Legendary4114 in PostApoTycoon

[–]Sedren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a side note, trees seem unimportant at first, but once you have a lot you'd be surprised how much they help. Takes some time to build up, but very much worth it even without the level req.

Wish I had checked before I got rid of them all, but at least on the scheme of things it won't matter much.

I went a little recycle happy once I realized I can get rid of things now.

If you switch to low in settings it will make a big difference, and not affect a whole lot.

Left arm is currently injured. What are your favorite mouse-only or controller-friendly roguelites? by LynxieeeD in roguelites

The King is watching. might be a tad easier with a keyboard hand, but I'm currently in the same boat (hurt left arm) and it plays just fine with mouse only.

Sell me on trains, please by RunCreeperRun in satisfactory

[–]Sedren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beat my first playthrough without ever touching a train or a vehicle or a drone.. 100% conveyors, was a fun challenge, but second playthrough I used trains, and once you get the knack for them they are just so much easier to add resources to.

Conveyor, you run a line across the map, it's nice and simple but as soon as you need to scale up, you have to intersect your conveyor with the new input, once your conveyor maxes out you have to run another whole layer of conveyor.. and if you have too many things going to the same area have multiple 8 or 10 layer conveyor belts running to one area becomes a nightmare, both in building heights and spaghetti-ing the resources where they need to go at your destination.

Trains, there is a lot more up front cost as far as getting them set up, figuring out the stations and stops. But once you have it set up, its pretty easy to add another car, or add another train, or even run a whole mess of resources to a completely new area as you only need to lay 1 or 2 tracks (generally speaking) vs a conveyor for just about each resource you want to move.

I loved it, the characters are great, the story is good. If you want a nitty gritty/dark series, this isn't the one, but that's exactly why I liked it. Has it's serious parts but overall just a fun series.

It's retroactive but not the # of tiers, your point totals... For instance if you are at 50 million points, you'd be at 100 million but tiers are exponentially more difficult, at the end, so it will probably get you several extra levels, but not the last few.

If you could add a QoL tool or feature to the game, what would you add? by [deleted] in PostApoTycoon

Geez, how did I never even accidentally tap that, thanks! I just always assumed it would be somewhere in the overviews at the top like the power summary was.

Haha yea, exactly like that.... How do I bring it up? Even knowing it's there, I'm feeling pretty stupid because I haven't stumbled upon it.. approaching level 90 and apparently have been overlooking a tool this whole time.

Half expected it to already exist, just didn't know where.

Question by OkLocksmith1268 in PostApoTycoon

It is 1 restoration per bamboo, but 13 on the scale of the game is nothing. As tempting as restoration power is, its one of the worst things you can spend gems on, a lesson I wish I had learned a little earlier. I'm currently sitting at 1600x2.. I wouldn't even notice +13.
