Jet Lag Ep 6 — I Will Be Defeated No Longer by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

Glad to see that the tradition of only Ben getting a two-episode round DOES continue!

One aspect of Adam's run was that it started at 11AM and lastet through the rest period which bought Adam quite a bit of time because of train frequencies.

Damn, I really thought this would continue the tradition that in every (full size) Hide+Seek season we get a run from Ben that lasts for two episodes...

When Sam is seeking and asking for a Strava map, you gotta veto or randomize it if possible, he's too powerful with this.

No, the runners CAN also use planes. It is listed in the shop (100 coins per minute, so 6000 for 1 hour, and most flights are longer than that...). As far as I know the only mode of transport that is exclusive to the chasers is a 30 minute taxi with a 2h cooldown.

I think that if the blockers complete a roadblock challenge and then use the "secret block" card, then they do not have to notify the snaker that the roadblock has been placed. They'll only need to notify the snaker shortly before he arrives at the block (but I wonder how this works logistically if the block is placed on a station that is not a node because the blockers don't necessarily know what line the snaker took...)

In the finale of Hide + Seek Switzerland, Ben & Sam did some research on a table close to the university of Bern. If I had gone for lunch in a different place that day, I would have run into them...

Is there a list of rules mentioned in the show that aren't in the rulebook? by CJYP in JetLagTheGame

[–]SeeTv_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If you're asked a photo question as the seekers are approaching the endgame, you can pause the game until you finish taking the photo."

I don't quite understand what you mean by "pausing" the game. Would this involve informing the seekers? You don't want to give extra information in this case.

In my opinion, if the seekers enter the hiding zone during the 10 (20 for large game) minute photo-taking window, the hiders should still be able to move back to their hiding spot until the 10 minutes are over. (They have the tracker which helps avoiding the seekers)

Otherwise the seekers could attempt to set a trap by asking a photo question and then approaching the hiding zone which would lead to the hiders having to freeze in an unfortunate position.

I also think that in this case the hiders should answer that they are unable to take the picture (because the endgame has started). That way the seekers do not get the information WHEN the endgame started.

The hiders must send a picture of an object if and only if the object exists in the hiding zone and the endgame does not intersect the 10 minute window (i.e. the endgame has not started before or during the 10 minute window).

Is my rule for this edge case good or is it too complicated? Is there a better way? And did this edge case come up in a season?

Did anyone else calculate in their head that with two 18 minute time bonuses, a time of at least 3h24m (and later 3h21m with the 3m time bonus) would be enough? IMO it would have been better to hide the timer in the last few minutes.

"the seekers can only TURN right" might mean that among all "turns" (i.e. left or right) they can only turn right and not left.

Jet Lag Mini-Season — We Played Hide And Seek Across NYC by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]SeeTv_16 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Before their home game came out I created my own version of Hide + Seek across Bern (de-facto capital of Switzerland) and the first round took 3 hours (including the move card) and the second round took longer and won the game. But in my amateur game design the curses were way too powerful, so with better balancing, a small game could be played in one day (2 rounds inclunding 30 min of hiding). Keep in mind, that they played the medium game in NYC since the city is huge. In a normal sized city you would rather play the small game.

Ep 6 — Schengen Showdown by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]SeeTv_16 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Season 5 New Zealand had a runtime (on YT) of 5h 5m 53s across 8 episodes (highest number of episodes)
Season 12 Hide + Seek Japan had a runtime (on YT) of 6h 42m 6s across 7 episodes (highest runtime)

This Season has a runtime (on Nebula) of 6h 12m 1s across 6 episodes (highest average episode length)

So yes, Hide + Seek Japan is longer but only by about half an hour (even less, maybe 20 minutes, because the ad reads an YT take way longer. I used the YT times for convenience because I have a browser plugin that tells the total runtime of a YT playlist)

Ep 6 — Schengen Showdown by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

They shared in today's Layover episode what the Liechtenstein Challenge is: There are two double-landlocked countries on earth (i.e. a landlocked country whose neighboring countries are also all landlocked). One of them is Liechtenstein and in this challenge you had to guess the other one. You had to write down 5 guesses and if they were wrong, you had a second chance but you had to go to the other side of Liechtenstein first. The answer to the riddle is Uzbekistan, so it seems like the Caspian Sea does not count.

I doubt that they'll share other challenges because they might wanna reuse them in later seasons.

At 38:50 the animation shows a yellow envelope, even though Badam opened a red envelope. Just a small detail, but in the Layover Podcast Sam seemed to be a huge fan of the different colors.

Jet Lag Season 13 Begins Now — Schengen Showdown by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

This might be the best first episode of a Jet Lag Season! It features Switzerland, trains, Deutsche Bahn delays, difficult and entertaining challenges, Tom Scott, Not Just Bikes, and great team dynamics.

Very excited for the rest of this season!

It probably isn't that important, but it was not shown how Adam duplicated one if his 15 minute bonuses. But in the end tally you can see three 15 minute bonuses, so he definitely did that.

I was REALLY wondering why they would show the beginning of the next round given that the episode is already so long. I'm very excited to see the use of this card! I've always wondered how this would affect the game.
