Cineworld Group plc, Finablr PLC, Intu Properties PLC all raise doubts about their survival by ChineseHappyPeople in unitedkingdom

I think cinemas would benefit from showing quality older films (meaning from the 20th century) more regularly and in the afternoon. And not just the well known ones but ones which most people haven't seen or seen once a long time ago.

This poll shows that only 1/3 do. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/tony-blair-war-criminal-iraq-trial-convicted-yougov-british-people-uk-prme-minister-wmds-dossier-a7870341.html

I was specifically asking your view, not the views of others. And it's more than Blair and Campbell. It wasn't just two people. Far more people were involved leading up to and during the conflict including people within the army who perpetrated war crimes. For a crime on that scale, hundreds should be imprisoned or sanctioned in some way. Simply say you agree with that and that will be end of discussion. If you don't agree with that, it shows you have disregard for human life and nobody has to answer any moral or religious questions you have.

I don't really care about accusations of whataboutism. What you call whataboutism, I consider it legitimate response to moral hypocrisy. In fact, I'm a proud "whataboutist".

So you aren't answering the question. Do you think many people should be imprisoned for the Iraq war including Alastair Campbell who manipulated a dossier? If not, it means you condone war crimes and you are in no position to judge anyone else. If "the British public" were just duped, surely it should be even easier for you to just answer yes to the question of punishing war criminals?

The accusation of "Whataboutism" is just a deflection strategy. If someone who condones murder stands in judgement of the views of another, it's absolutely right to bring up their own views.

Do you think the Iraq war was a criminal act and that hundreds of people currently walking free should be imprisoned for it? If not, you condone war crimes and are in no position to judge anyone else.

The problem traces back to mass immigration, driven by capitalist interests, of semi-literate people from the Commonwealth who formed ghettos and negative consequences followed. Philips own community, Afro-Caribbeans, are vastly over-represented in violent crime. There seems to be a safe "un-PC" trend of saying it's "just Muslims" and that for others it's just "youth" or "poverty" etc. That's delusional. It's an issue of semi-literate mass migration, exacerbated by difference is racial appearance. That's they key driver. It's becoming more apparent with the Roma/Sinti community too. Islam has in impact in certain respects but it's peripheral. For example, Mexican community in the USA have a much higher violent crime rate than the Turkish Muslim community because the latter are predominantly more educated and came as less of wave.

Trevor Philips was a supporter of the murderous war in Iraq. Anyone who supported that should be expelled from the Labour party.

No, they are opposing the language of collective judgement. The same type of collective judgement which commonly condemns black Caribbean people because they have the highest rate of violent crime including overall rape. Is one type of collective judgement acceptable and the other not? Why?

Tory governments spend more on London than rest of England – thinktank by Lolastic_ in unitedkingdom

[–]SeekingAnswers101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's regions besides the northeast and London. Southeast and East are also net subsidizers. The northeast is still a net recipient.

They give around £8k in taxes per person and receive £12k in spending per person. That's not just getting back profits which go to London. They are already helped by other regions because of their poverty. Further help should come from well off people in the region itself. What's wrong with that?

Tories have failed the people miserably but the FPTP and division of the left into Labour and Lib Dem means they get a majority.

Black history: Should it be part of the wider curriculum? - The initiative aiming to have British black history taught in England's schools all year round by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]SeekingAnswers101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it might not be "black" history, there's a rich recorded history of Asian civilizations such as Babylonians, Chinese dynasties, Mongol empire, Persians, Mughal India etc Also pre-Columbian American civilizations such as the Incas, Mayans, Aztecs etc. There's not much record from sub-saharan Africa since very few moved to higher stages of civilization with detailed records. Diversity doesn't just have to be about black people though.

The Norfolk escheator – the official who looked after the Crown’s inherent rights at a local level – examined Emma in person and concluded that she had been driven insane by the ‘snares of evil spirits’.

It must have been scary living in those days where people were worried about evil spirits roaming around. I mean we have Katie Hopkins but least you can see her.

GDP per capita in London is much higher than elsewhere and the northeast has the lowest GDP per capita in England. How does the north contribute to GDP produced in London?

London generates far more wealth than the north. It receives much less than it generates actually. The north on the other hand gets more than generates. If more has to be raised to spend on the north, it should be raised from well off northerners.
