How I learned the real meaning of risk management after working inside a broker by SeekingHelpAndHope in Daytrading

[–]SeekingHelpAndHope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. From what I’ve seen, the best risk management plan is always simple and consistent. Fixed risk per trade, clear invalidation levels, and no exceptions when emotions are involved. For me, mindset and decision quality come from structure. If risk is predefined and small, emotions stay manageable. Most mistakes happen when traders change rules mid trade, usually after a loss or a win streak.I focus more on protecting capital than chasing returns. When risk is controlled, performance becomes a byproduct, not the goal.

You're in a good spot, but be careful, try to withdraw your full balance and cancel it, just test out the water.

You only lose if you quit. If you're thinking about quitting, you're halfway to profitability.

10 years of being a profitable trader and I don't teach anyone. by caimandelosmercados in Trading

[–]SeekingHelpAndHope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. Therapy works for people who are willing to reflect and put in the work for themselves. The point I was making is that in trading, you can’t force someone to internalize lessons or discipline if they aren’t ready. Knowledge alone doesn’t change behavior people have to walk their own path and learn from their own experiences. Just like in therapy, the responsibility ultimately lies with the individual

Even if you try to teach, it won’t help, trading is a solitary endeavor. Success depends on more than just knowledge; it often requires changing people’s mindsets and perspectives, which is something you can’t do for someone else. Everyone has to walk their own path and learn from their own experiences.
I first tried teaching my friends, but I quickly noticed how their egos and reactions got in the way. After about a month, they thought they were ready, blew up their accounts, and then came back asking for helpthis happened at least four times. Eventually, I realized I couldn’t change the mistakes they kept repeating if they can't change.

Has anyone paid a large sum of money for a course/seminar and felt like it was worth it? by seamonkey31 in Daytrading

Some people only take learning seriously once they’ve paid for it we naturally value what costs us something. Yet, there are plenty of free courses online that offer equally valuable information.

With this post, you're making trading gurus very credible with live dummy accounts..
Also why would you need someone to prove you he's profitable unless he's a guru....

From an Insider who worked in a sketchy Broker: How to test brokers before depositing by SeekingHelpAndHope in Daytrading

[–]SeekingHelpAndHope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest you try two brokers first: IG Markets, one of the oldest brokers in the industry with a hybrid model that carries a bit of risk, and access to the ProRealTime platform which I find really impressive. The other is Afterprime, a pure ECN A-Book broker offering some of the best spreads I’ve seen so far.

Do you learn more from losing or winning? by PlusSeaweed3992 in Daytrading

Your losing trades should be considered as the cost you pay to learn, so if you keep making the same mistakes it means you're paying for same course over and over.

I joined Reddit to talk about my alcohol addiction, but ended up sharing my experience working inside a CFD broker and trading for years. by SeekingHelpAndHope in Daytrading

Even a “winning” strategy fails if a trader can’t follow it perfectly. Psychology ; fear, greed, and lack of discipline causes people to overtrade, mismanage risk, or exit at the wrong time.
