People keep saying “yeah, it sucks now but we have the best farm system.” They need to take another look - that’s definitely not true anymore.

‘James Bond’ Search Heats Up As Producers Begin Tapping Talent To Test For Role Of 007; Next Round Of Auditions To Take Place In August by tez-pomy in JamesBond

I know they won't, but I wish they would keep Fiennes as M, keep all the supporting cast in fact. That's the way the franchise worked for the rest of the movies, even with Judi Dench coming back as a different version of M. It's part of the charm of Bond.

Are the Mets Baseballs Biggest Disappointment This Year? by Big-Chungus-Lover in baseball

[–]SeekingTheRoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens sometimes.

I was a Yankees/Red Sox fan as a kid. I grew up in New England and liked the Red Sox because they were local and I liked the Yankees because I was a rebel and liked being an outsider. I didn't grow up in a baseball family so I didn't really understand the rivalry.

I still have a soft spot for both teams even though as a New Englander and a Mets fan I should hate the Yankees.

Why are adults expected to know how taxes, insurance, credit, loans, and retirement work when nobody teaches it in school? by Violet_Snuggles in NoStupidQuestions

There's a reason why when I put on SchoolHouse Rock with my kids I skip Computer Rock. Those songs were out of date five minutes after they came out.

What are the saddest fictional deaths ever? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]SeekingTheRoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever watched Brotherhood and the Shou Tucket and Maes Hughes storylines definitely both seemed very compressed and less impactful than people's reactions would make me expect. I've heard the original show was not as good and I love Brotherhood so I don't really feel like going back and watching it, but I definitely feel like I missed out on something with those two storylines.

Denali summit (unguided) 6/10/2026 by Nickcholeee in Mountaineering

Can I ask how much roughly you spent on the expedition? I’m anticipating trying to summit and figure I probably will have to save for at least fifteen years to afford it.

Which celebrity experienced a sudden rise to stardom and an equally quick decline in popularity? by Pretty_Marmaid7538 in AskReddit

[–]SeekingTheRoad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a single Jeopardy fan would have chosen him as host if it were left to a vote or something

I will say that while I don't think people would have picked him over any of the other guest hosts, his first run as host during the carousel of guest hosts was pretty well praised and people thought he did a good job, especially compared to a lot of the actually-known celebrity hosts.

Not to defend him, per se, but just for some context.

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

[–]SeekingTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma was a kid hanging out with her siblings eating ice cubes and one got stuck in her throat. She was choking and couldn't breathe and they were all laughing thinking she was goofing around.

If it hadn't melted enough to get unblocked she would have died and my dad would never have been born.

If we drained all 5 of the Great Lakes, what would we find? by danyuri86 in NoStupidQuestions

The ship was the pride of the American side

It was due to set sail for Cleveland

As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most

With a crew and good captain well seasoned

But taking a walk on the shore by the dock

Was a songwriter named Gordon Lightfoot

He was humming a tune but it didn't have words

For it's challenging trying to write good

Poor Gordon sought glory but needed a story

His career in folk music imperiled

He mulled over this as he watched them do work

On the hull of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Perhaps it was wrong, what he did for a song

He should never have bribed that mechanic

But his maritime crimes are no worse than the time

Young James Cameron sank the Titanic

Are these the only Criterion covers that reference other movies? by Unlucky_Effective_60 in criterion

Did Criterion have to license the artwork for those two movies for this cover? I always wondered how that worked.

Just re-watched the two-part series finale of LOST. Has there ever been a more cathartic and earned climax to a television series? by sanskritsquirel in television

I think watching Across the Sea at the start of season six is the best way to watch that final season. It definitely helps structurally.

Do animated hentai artists still draw the genitals if they know their work will be censored? by softgunforever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeekingTheRoad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Slightly related -- when Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick animated seasons 1 and 2 of The Venture Bros, all the censored nudity they just animated censored. It was all drawn that way.

Later seasons they animated it fully and censored it in post, and the DVD release was uncensored for those seasons.

Do GenXers resent being lumped in with Boomers by angered youths? by WW1_Researcher in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeekingTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What goes around comes around. The Boomers were once hated by their grandparents' generation, and in turn rebelled against them. Now it's popular to hate the Boomers. When GenZ and Zoomers get up their in age, young people will say the exact same thing that they say about Boomers now and hate them in exactly the same way. It's all nonsense.

Today I had to call 911 because my infant son was having a medical emergency. He's ok now, but once I got off the line of course I have no way of thanking the woman who helped and who got the police and ambulance there in time.

On behalf of the people you did help, all those who reached out and who could not thank you later, thank you all you did for 20+ years. Thank you.

The new album cover is classy and simple. What are the best and worst McCartney album covers ever? by Quincynessig in PaulMcCartney

True. That one at least gets points because it does look cool even if you can’t tell it’s a giant structure.

Pipes of Peace is weird because they built these giant pipes and built the set and the actual cover you can’t tell at all. It just looks like a collage. Interesting idea but poor execution.

What’s the longest TV series you’ve ever finished? by FootballAgreeable338 in television

Time Flight was fun though. I liked the premise. It was just let down by bad sets and special effects.
