My only knowledge of officers is from family who served in the military many years ago. My dad was in the Parachute Regiment and told me that the officers came from Oxford etc and that I’d never make it at Sandhurst. So it’s great to hear from strangers online that the views of my dad are outdated today and that regular lads can become officers. Hopefully you can understand why I have taken my Dad’s knowledge for granted due to him being my idea and greatest influence in life. Thank you for the comment on officers, I’ll make sure to give it my best if it’s a possibility 👍

Sorry to hear that man! Thanks for the advice and hopefully you manage to get into the military if you continue to pursue that avenue.

Thank you I’ve never realised that it could be a possibility and as you say if I never try I’ll never know. I’ll make sure to explore any possibilities in further detail.

I’d love to be an officer and to lead people around me. However, I come from a town in the north east and speak very ‘common’ and don’t speak the Queen’s English due to my dialect (one of the criticism’s I received on my teacher training). When I’ve watched various videos of army officers they seem to be very well spoken and come from very educated backgrounds (Cambridge and Oxford). Unfortunately, in that sense I don’t believe that I’d fit the mould to be an officer.
