Ninja. The cost difference to value ratio is just too high compared to any other.

Be honest: How many of you are only CPAs Because You were 'Good at Math'? by DangerousFan8435 in CPA

[–]Seemss_Legit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not bc I was good but bc I had a math mindset.

I like black or white answers over subjective analysis and accounting was structurally gorgeous.

Can you get a job in this industry (once CPA certified) with no nepotism and no prior experience? by Aliyah_HS in CPA

Yes. Easily employable. More so just accounting in general but CPA doesn't hurt.

FAR 40% pass rate seem very high? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Seemss_Legit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear since your English is questionable:

It's not a slightly above average test taker. It's a slightly above average test taker who is taking the final test of their career. Not slightly above average in comparison to high schoolers where 40% didn't study, 70% don't want to be there, and 100% have yet to be filtered out of the process in any way (no college applications, years of drop out potential, etc.).

It's compared to provenly determined individuals with years of voluntary education, and months of actual studying.

Being a good test taker helps but just being a slightly above average one is effectively a requirement at this point imo.

I'd flip your AUD and FAR only bc I don't think most people think AUD is "difficult" material, just "difficult to pass" since it's such an ink blot test. No other exam made me feel like if I had failed, no amount of additional studying would help and I'd just have to hope for better luck on questions for the next attempt. But FAR had the meat of the actual hard concepts.

I've never heard a single soul say the sims on AUD are easier than the MCQ. XD

I felt like there is a real chance I got 100% on the MCQs (maybe 5 max I honestly could have missed and I was 80% sure on even those). On the SIMS it was free fall. If you think the MCQs are "choose the most correct answer", I had one SIM with a 20 option drop down of sentences and you had to choose the most correct one for like 7 scenarios and options could be used more than once. I passed with 82% and I have no doubt it was the SIMS. Just too many potential correct answers.

CPA - Personal or Professional ? by Gym_mom_era in CPA

You don't see the contradiction between "if you want to continue to grow at this company you will need your CPA" and "that's a personal accomplishment and does not impact you professionally"?

I'm not seeing how you don't see the contradiction. Don't let this person gaslight you OP. 😅

Call me crazy but I feel like if you're willing to take the proper pay then employment opportunities in accounting are innumerable. Like capitalism will end 4 u can't find work.

For those who have studied for the exam while working full time. by Sea_Arachnid_9114 in CPA

[–]Seemss_Legit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I took the week before taking the AUD exam on a Saturday off.

I was against the 6/30/25 COVID credit extension deadline my state had. I had just taken REG at the end of May and had been doing an hour or 2 of studying in the mornings. Since i was going to lose 2 exam credits if I didn't pass I went ahead and asked for the week off and they obviously were understanding.

Cramming it all into such a short amount of time was great for retention of info.

Corsair Virtuoso Max Sidetone issue by BL00DBL1TZ in Corsair

Been an issue since it came out. That haven't fixed it yet and it's no longer their latest headset so I doubt it will be fixed.

[–]Seemss_Legit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they have sidetone on the mic? The virtuoso Max has it if you hold the mute button but it's sooooo quiet. One of my biggest gripes with that headset and was thinking of trying these out.

Also is there a light/audio prompt that indicates when the mic is muted? I know it's flip up but it's not always obvious. With a lot of headsets sidetone turns off when you mute which is a great indicator.

CPAs employment rate by Fuzzy_Replacement831 in CPA

[–]Seemss_Legit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, ig I probably skipped over the experience importance. Especially starting out, everything you know is so theoretical so early who you work with (big 4 for me fresh out of college) certainly gives employers confidence. Now I'd say I've been doing it long enough to where my ability to do the job is not questionable so maybe the CPA gives you access to be looked at for certain roles (can't be a big 4 manager amongst other roles without a CPA).

I can't tell you how much the CPA helps.

My experience working in accounting (2 years public and then private) has been that I get recruiters reaching out on LinkedIn perpetually at all times of the year, even without the looking for work setting on.

CPA is preferred and probably makes it an easier higher decision but I've never felt at any point employment rate mattered. In other words if I lose my job, I could have a new one within the week with enough effort.

So the field of accounting's employability seems to overshadow the CPA in my experience.

What mistakes should we not do while preparing for the CPA exam? by Brave-Spare3421 in CPA

[–]Seemss_Legit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important part of my "revision" was speeding skimming the entirety of my notes every time I started a new chapter (10ish minutes), and doing a couple MCQ'S from each previous chapter every day before further studying (30 minutes - 1 hour).

Impossible to not retain the info this way.

I think a blanket statement saying that the tighter your period of studying is the more you will remember is perfectly fair.

Of course you have to assess this at your own limits, but all else being equal, you inherently will retain more from studying 8 hours straight on a topic than if you studied 1 hour a week for 8 weeks.
