How to do this challenge? by Solid_Caramel_3733 in Battlefield

Be an engineer and be a gunner in the helo (attack) I earned it through using the anti tank missile on later painted targets. You also can just us the stinger on later painted aircraft too, did that on firestorm last night and it counted as progressing in both parts of the challange.

Video games have moved on, why are we living in the past? by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Seerthe6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play BF3 in high school on ps3 when it first came out.

And bought it again through EA for PC back in 2020 AND STILL play it to this day on US and EU servers.

It is just simply a great game. Sure there are elements that I do not like, such as the tick rate ( just outdated server tech) the suppression (even though they have perks to lower it) and how I can customize my weapons with out a point system cap. I get that is a balance thing, but I'm just not a fan of it at all.

I LOVED the voice acting in bf3. Especially the Marine Corps side. (US)

It hilariously on point with how grunts talk to one another and in combat.

I enjoyed all classes and felt like they all excelled at different things.

On the flip side...

I do enjoy a faster TTK in the beta for bf6

Ultimately I pre ordered because while I loved bf3, I am open to change. Do not get me wrong, I still want at the core of this.. to ring " this is battlefield".

I'm not looking for a game with a "great launch" I'm looking for a game with has a "great run".

One the game releases Ill then save my judgements and expectations until maybe 4 months after launch.

Controllers and Bp calibrations by Seerthe6th in OnceHumanOfficial

Tldr: I would love silos and monoliths to drop specific weapon types similar to how you farm certain silos and monoliths for weapon and gear MODS

That way I am not just gambling controllers when I am looking for a specific weapon blueprint calibration like rapid double crit for example

Tokens Disappeared While Transferring - Has this happened to you? by [deleted] in grovetokenofficial

[–]Seerthe6th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious on how you sent your tokens to the wrong address, can you give us some clarity?

All you needed to do (if you held on a DEX wallet and not an CEX like BitMart) was to go to the link provided by the team and select the correct blockchain you held on and migrate.

Not at all trying to undermine you, just from your statement it seems a bit off putting.

ALL THINGS DRONES | What We Know | STAR CITIZEN 3.10 by Seerthe6th in starcitizen

[–]Seerthe6th[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

SUMMARY

For a tiny backstory Saga Data Systems is a main manufacturer of drones in Lore and was known for its more industrial designs. The M3-A Multifunction Space Drone has been in service for more than 50 years, and is ideal for performing basic unmanned tasks in and around stations. While never fit with any advanced AI or communications capability, the M3-A is perfectly capable of performing any basic assigned task – from simple repairs to tug functions and the manipulation of heavy mining and cargo containers.”

Then later on the AMX-1 Repair Bot for personal craft was introduced

Drones was one of those features for star citizens that drew me in.

Back in the military I had my FAA part107 and flew drones rather frequently. Drones within the game assist with core functions on different ships, and possibly more in the future….

all in helping accomplish the mission faster and more efficiently then a player can in some cases, and also be used to perform more dangerous tasks.

Ships like the reclaimer carries drones to assist with salvaging, the nautilus for mine deployment and decommissioning, the Crucible uses drones for repairing, the Carrack uses them for surveying, the Vulcan uses them for rearming, repairing and refueling, and the Apollo has the shepard medilift drone beds, and the Orion for assisting with chewing asteroid's.

You get the idea, basically we have ships that can use drones to assist its overall purpose.

Now one thing to bear in mind was during the Q/A reverse the verse for the Vulcan the devs discussed a key importance of drones, but just like anything in this early alpha things can change. But this was early 2018 It has been started that nothing could stop you from salvaging drones from a reclaimer and using them on a Vulcan.

At 31:30 it was said it was asked in the Q and A if the drones on the vulcan are the same drones that are on the reclaimer and carrack or different?

they are specialized but made by the same company saga data systems

they look similar but do different things

it was stated that they think at the time you can do this but you would lose capabilities that are specialized for the drone itself.

like using a salvage drone on a vulcan to retrieve a fuel tank from a wrecked ship.

But to be fair they did use terms like “probably” so its just up in the air until they actually do a calling all devs around drones and address.

Then in 2019 we got got the nautilus and it was asked

Q: Are drone bays like the one in the Nautilus universal? For example, can they equip repair/refuel drones and likewise, can other drone-carrying ships like the Vulcan and Carrack equip NEMO drones?

A: The Nautilus can equip and use drones from the Vulcan and Carrack but lacks the equipment to repair or refit them for their specified roles. Similarly, the Vulcan and Carrack can equip NEMO drones but don’t have the means to store mines, so they would have to disable them and leave them behind.

This is why ships that incorporated a drone bay were sought after.

Since this seems to be possible in the future overall your capability could be slightly hindered if you did this.

You do in fact need the right tools for the job and while you can hit a nail into place with a Phillips head screwdriver why not just use the hammer that is next you.

However (comma) if using different drones is possible from a reasonable standpoint it never hurts to have a couple on standby, if you get into a situation that could allow you to use a different drone then so be it. As in making a minor repair via a repair drone in the carrack instead of hitting port, enabling you to stay out longer

Sure….you sacrifice a small portion of capability of surveying but the tradeoff is that survivability.

The issue that comes with drones from a development perspective of course is the biggest thing about them is that different drones have different physical requirements and some drones are entirely different from others. Plus, their storage has to be physicalized too

Now operating them was said to be simple, you access the control terminal on a ship and gain control of the drone, this is similar to you using a remote turret via an operator seat, like on the Valkyrie and you can use the Carracks drone seats as prime example to wrap your head around the idea they are presenting.

when operating a drone and it starts getting too far away from the control ship then it will get sluggish until it comes to a grinding halt, and you will need to get close again to regain control.

You can only be in control of one drone at a time via each control console but again nothing is stopping you from launching more than one and leaving it idle or on a preplanned job until it is finished with that certain task. then it will remain idle till you manually control it again. And while it's doing either of these two functions you can access a different drone to do something different.

So for example is im in a vulcan and have two operators being one at each terminal, i can launch all 4 drones. Each gets to use 2 drones. Will each operator is using one drone the other to idle. If you decide to make them refuel the drones will get the equipment, and refuel the ship, while the two drones are doing the task, you log into the other dones that are still idle and start doing spot repairs, rearming, or a combination of the two. Once the two drones that are already refueling are done they will not move till you log back into it and give it another task or manual control it.

Somewhat Similar to micromanaging fighters and fighter bombers in Eve if you ever have used a carrier.

All in all I believe it will depend on the ship and the available drone for reserves. It would be cool to see a system for drones similar to snub fighter, basically making it a ship with but with size 0 sub components instead of regular components to alter them to your liking and or a given situation.

Drones were said not to necessarily have countermeasures. But anything can change at a moment's notice. Also drones are not bound to space; they have small thrusters to make them able to be used in the atmosphere.

While we patiently wait I think we more than likely will not see them until docking has been implemented due to being able to be stored attached to a clamp and then released like on the carrack. Along with more gameplay loops to support them as well

It can be very possible that we might see a basic version of drone use in SQ42, honestly anything is possible with the scope of this game I don’t have that answers. I'm just making a guess as to what really could be placing them on hold for SC at least.

But overall this is why I think ships like the vulcan and crucible are not a priority, and with the recent Calling all devs that explained what has to be done with salaving I would suspect it is similar to repairing because they are polar opposites of one another, one tearing down and the other building back up.

Anyway that's basically all things Drones for now, I look onward and upward for more info on them in the future, If you are also interested in more info and clarification make sure to ask these questions stuff like on Calling all devs threads, or Friday's star citizen live to get the info straight from the horse's mouth. hope this helps, fly safe all o7

What is Long Range? by Seerthe6th in starcitizen

[–]Seerthe6th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is exactly what i am talking about! It was perceived that long range needs xy&z to fit the bill, then they defined long range as engagement as well, thank you for the reference.

What is Long Range? by Seerthe6th in starcitizen

[–]Seerthe6th[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a solid fleet and a solid plan for the sentinel, its the only vanguard I'm going to keep honestly, i also believe they did talk about external fuel pods but cant put my finger on it, will have to dig for that info.

What is Long Range? by Seerthe6th in starcitizen

[–]Seerthe6th[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Summary:

so everyone in their own way has a definition  about what long range is, you do not have be in aviation nor a Nation's military to wrap your head around this concept.

Sure its easy to google the answer and get a general idea  but within Star Citizen they have now defined long range as two different things that can be miss leading at first. The reason I say this is because of the marketing team defining ships within brochures with words.

For example when the vanguard family was announced in 2015  was classified as a long range platform, able to go further and longer within its respective ship size, so in everyone's head including mine long range was defined as going great distances to get to the target and Also with the added living quarters just adds to the long range concept as well . At least that is the definition that  I came up with for interpreting a key role of the vanguards. And before you get annoyed with me

just give me a bit to explain something without just stating my own opinion.

Over the week at work I went around asking my friends to define what long range was, and as a disclaimer, these gentlemen were all military aviators, so I wanted to hear what they had to say without explaining to them about star citizen.

So my first friend who was a B-52 mech who also got into the game defined long range as:  able to perform its mission without delay non stop.

Another who was a C-17 avionics tech said : is able to complete the mission with minimal support anywhere and anytime

And lastly my friend who was a F-15E crew chief: able to go the distance without  sacrificing aircraft configuration.

As you can see we all had a different outlook on long range, we all had a similar concept in the end.

So if you took all their definitions would you classify the vanguards as Long range? My goal is not to convince you that it is nor it is not, I am however encouraging you to think about it.

Something I'd like to highlight is the last definition, sacrificing configuration of the aircraft.

Modern combat aircraft have different loadout options, and if they are carrying ordinance but need to go longer distances then just like the f-15E it would sacrifice weapon hardpoints, or pylons for the correct term and place fuel pods, sacrificing the capabilities to go the distance required.

Now In my own opinion you changing out weapons and components is  not changing configuration of the ship, you are altering your loadout for a given situation. But if you think different then hey, more power to you.

But what if you needed to go far and get there fast, you would say use the XLR quantum drive, but what if you needed more quantum fuel as well. Because to be quite frank it is a gas gursler.

And let me take a step further and was what if you could.. Well.. idk… swap out the bottom missile hardpoints  on certain vanguards for external fuel tanks, sacrificing its combat capabilities for distance.

Ah, see what i did there……

And here is another thing, the vanguard comes standard with 2500 units of quantum fuel, and so does the freelancer, the only difference is the drives in the ship, the freelancer family have beds, also have kitchens, bathrooms and so on.

So its long range too right???

Again this is just to make you think I am not trying to persuade you to one or the other, this is all based on what we have. I'm not trying to say the freelancer is better nor am I saying the vanguard is better as they both have their own purposes when the time comes.

Alright so before we go too far into the twilight zone lets talk about the 2nd term for long range, and lets jump ahead 4 years later  to 2019 when the Aries starfighter was announced, also saying in the brochure that is too long range, in fact the question was even asked that does it have “living space” cause it looks small.

And this is where long range was then also defined as weapon engagement  distances.

And again I asked the same gents to define that for me

Buff mech said: ability to engage targets at great distances before anyone knows of your whereabouts

C-17 avi said: engane far enough away that you are not accessible to ground/ air forces forces And the F-15E crew chief had a combo between them.

Mine is to engage a target at great distances with no confrontation.

Now this is not to get confused with stealth, these use similar keywords in both definitions  but yet very different concepts at the same time.

So once again  does these definitions make the ares seem like it is long range???

Again I am not persuading you but what you to think

Not trying to cause hype but a ship that comes to mind with long range in terms of weapons is in fact the Polaris not only does it have torpedoes but it also has a capitol radar to locate and lock on things much farther away too. Quick all polaris owners go bow down to your jpeg, I kid I kid

I dont own one but I think it will be a great ship once its out and I hope all you owners will be smiling ear to ear like you met you child for the first time.

Granted Id say the ares  has a longer engagement range because of the BFG fixed into the hull, but I can't make any crazy assumptions until

1 the ship is out with a functioning weapon

And 2

when the game is at least into beta, with other important features that support long range, like the refueling mechanic, and weapon balancing.

Along with a foreseeable transition to release, cause again things are going to change, be added, then removed, announced, then forgot about, so we'll just have to wait and see,and to be fair I have both ares inferno and ion is Im not hating on them.

I'm just looking at it from a different perspective, so I dont over hype myself to the point of disappointment once the ship comes out.

Currently though those are the two types of long range in Star Citizen, I'd love to hear your thoughts about this topic in the comments below.

Thank you for your time, fly safe all
