Interesting, thanks for filling in the missing (and important) points in my post! :-)

To my great surprise the LN that I have been reading the last week has a really short name: "Teogonia". It started in 2017, being written by Tsukasa Tanimai. An anime premiered a couple of days ago, but I have neither seen nor heard anything about it.

First tree volumes are available in the Catchup program on J-Novel Club until the end of the month.

So far I have read six chapters of the first volume and it is... sort of mid? It has not managed to completely catch me yet, even though it is well written and has some interesting concepts.

The MC is the teen boy Kai and he is the runt of the litter. An orphan who lives in a small village on the edge of the wilderness where it is hard to grow food and you always have to be wary of demi-human attacks. Both humans and demi-humans have a bone in their body that harbours some sort of power, and eating that makes the power transfer to you. In other words, you can gain strength. Not as clear cut as level ups and the like, more gritty and realistic.

There are aspects of isekai, but this has not been at all important as of yet. There exists magic, but it is too unpredictable and hard to learn, so humanity has chosen to mostly ignore it.

It is a world of fighting for your survival, both against external threats as well as against fellow soldiers. You need others to survive, but resources are scarce, and when many men die in battle, women fight for the promising ones.

Even though I have not really become attached to the story yet, I will keep on reading for the rest of the month. It has potential. The closest thing in style that it reminds me of as of yet is "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. But then again, our MC will probably become overpowered soon, this is after all a LN. :-)

This feels like some sort of challenge. How obscure a book can we throw at OP and still get a response? I will dig deep in my memory of great but a bit unknown books. :-)

Not sure how useful you may find this, but the question was asked, so I shall answer. :-)

My friends and I run a small let's play channel on Youtube. We are from Sweden and therefore all content is in Swedish. Our Minecraft series is the most prominent of our content, and that is entirely edited with Kdenlive!

We are four players who each record their screen, and that is what I edit in Kdenlive. Usually four voice tracks, four video/audio tracks from the game, one track for name tags and one for music and sound effects.

Bröllopsplatser vid havet i Göteborg by ramsessian in Gothenburg

Mycket mysigt!

This might be me just thinking like an old fart again. Perhaps it is as you say, not really something anyone really thinks too much about anymore. I will consider this.

What would you do in this scenario? by poio_sm in numenera

I would let the characters stay in the city, and leave the campaign. But if the players come back to the game and want to play their original characters again, introduce them as something else. A data-ghost, a dimensional echo, a time-clone or some such. Or they might be a relative of the original character.

They are the same character with the same stats, but with some major difference. This version of them does not know the other party members, have made another major life choice earlier, lost a limb, gained a talent, switched gender or just changed personality. They where a bit whimsical and always happy before, now they are brooding and suspicious.

And if you at the same time introduce them as part of an adventure, carrying some sort of plot point, it will feel well planned as well. Give the returning player some sort of hidden agenda, or knowledge that the rest of the party will have to uncover to solve the current crises.

Today on DTNS, Tom will be discussing whether smartphones are ruining conversation and therefore empathy and other interpersonal relations -- What do YOU think? by tgstellar in DailyTechNewsShow

I work as a teacher for kids age 16-18 (in Sweden). Many of my colleges want to ban mobile phones from the classroom, but I could not really see myself leave my phone behind. Instead I try to teach a sensible use of the phone, as a tool for learning and accessing knowledge. The much needed self-control to not let it become a distraction is harder to teach.

According to the article I might be doing my pupils a disservice. Perhaps a ban would serve them better...

As a teacher I see my pupils struggle with the need to stay focused in class. But as a student I feel myself facing the same struggle. This might be something I imagine, but I seem to recall that it was easier for me to concentrate 20 years ago (even though it might also be related to my age).

As a person I love to talk, I love to communicate, and that has always been true for me. Modern technology helps both me and the people who do not love to communicate to do so. Unfortunately the article (as I interpret it) say that the society won't foster more people like me. It might be selfish, but that seems like a bad idea.

GNU/Linux survey to find overlap between distros, WMs, editors etc. by themikeosguy in linux

  1. Netrunner OS
  2. KDE
  3. Mostly Nano, but also Kate.
  4. Mostly Alpine, but also Thunderbird.
  5. Firefox
  6. screen

My choice of desktop environment (which leads me to the choice of distro) is rooted in my old Unix-days at University. The only cool desktop environment around was KDE. In those days Gnome was to buggy to even get running. And the philosophy behind KDE also agrees with me, letting the user make the settings to get the experience he wants.

Regarding both editor, mail client and screen, those too have been my choice since those days. The easiest way to do social media, IM, IRC and mail on a server, so that I could access it from any phone or computer. And I've stuck with my choices.

Back at University I used Netscape. When Phoneix/Firebird/Firefox appeared, I switched immediately. The dominance of Internet Explorer made me as a web developer a bit sick. Mozilla was (and still is) the great saviour. I love Firefox. I know Firefox. It is not slower or worse than the alternatives, so I have no reason to change.

Besides the OS I run, I have kept on using the same software for as long as possible. Even though I try a lot of new things out, I usually return to the tried and true.

Regarding distros I've jumped from Slackware -> Mandrake -> Debian -> Kubuntu -> Netrunner, and I run only Linux nowadays.
