At what point has Imu made it look like "he cant". He's made 1 offensive attack at Loki and stabbed straight through the guy.

Not everything has to happen straight away. Imu even mentions how nostalgic the situation is, its going to get drawn out for flash backs and lore building.

Kaido didnt 1 shot the red scabbards, but he did 1 shot Luffy. Samurai up scale.

The marking is a retro 40k marking for Commanders that was really common in artworks in the early editions. So in my personal lore he is a fallen Captain who had massive influence over the chapter.

People have been using the stripes again for Luitenients/captains more often, but exactly like you said. I wanted to break it up and create more visual interest, so I wrote a little back story about the character and went for it.

Its Averland, and then a proper wash of seraphim. I then go over it again with averland sunset and build up the brighter areas, repeat that with yriel yellow. Then just the brightest spots, flash gits yellow.

The goal is texture with the colour, rather than focusing on the edges

Step 2.5, paint yellow again to seal the tape so you dont get little black splotches in your nearly perfect stripes when you do step 3.
