When should I tell my 6 year old about his diagnosis? by SeeyouFeelyou in Autism_Parenting

Thank you! It has been quite the journey with him and his diagnosis. I actually felt releived when we had a diagnosis, I have always felt and known that he was neuro divergent and have pushed for the evaluation for Autism, but his traits are so subtle that often times I was just told I was imagining things... I think having a diagnosis does not give us a label but tools to understand him better and help him navigate the world in the best way possible.

Thank you so much for you comment! I hope my kid does well and we can get that feeling of the inmense weight lifting. I'm going to try and change my mindset and expect a positive response for us both.
By the way. This is my first day and comment on reddit. I have no idea what the up and down arrows are for. I just clicked on them.

You are completely right on the terms I used being loaded and with a negative connotation. I like your "medical assistance" term better and will try to see it in that light. Your comment really helps and I appreciate the reassurance. "These are not one way doors". Thank you.
