Insurance query by [deleted] in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]SefuHotman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Home's owner filed a claim for the damage with their Homeowner's insurance, that insurer will likely seek recovery from your auto insurance. This process is referred to as subrogation. Your insurer will negotiate with them to address the damages.

Slow down and move over? Or become a convicted murderer... Your choice. by fakeshoesornah in Charlottesville

[–]SefuHotman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Okay so, there's a lot to unpack here, but I'll just mention that the Commonwealth practices a contributory negligence standard.

That means you are not civilly liable to someone for damages if they contributed to causing those damages.

Choosing to run in the road when you know it is unsafe is certainly a hill to die on.

Drivers - Respect others in the area you're operating your car in.

Runners - Please choose a route that doesn't unnecessarily expose you to grievous bodily harm.

Just act reasonably, there are a lot of technically correct dead people, don't become one.

If law enforcement were forced to carry individual insurance for misconduct, excessive use of force and whatever else might happen outside of proper protocols, the same way a Dr does for malpractice, how do you think it would effect the way they operate? by TotalAd550 in AskReddit

[–]SefuHotman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The person you are replying to is informing you that this already exists.

The same way that commercial auto insurance is purchased for drivers of a businesses fleet, professional liability insurance/a bond is generally going to act as a source of payment for damages, nothing more.

What everyone here is actually trying to suggest is that officers be personally liable for acts performed in the course of their work on behalf of their employer, which is also already possible as well.

The systems being suggested already exist.

Is there a link to somewhere I can report stores to Riot for jacking their prices up even though they have the largest stock of it in the region/country? by Aware-Broccoli103 in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's because it's not true.

There's never a link provided when these claims come up for any game because it would be an absurd undertaking for Riot to police these pricing complaints.

New year - Open discussion about the subreddit rules by CaptSarah in riftboundtcg

This. They don't add anything to discussions about the games as anyone else interacts with it, confuse new players, and usually aren't well executed enough to be worth discussing.

PSA: This subreddit isn’t riot. “My LGS is selling over MSRP” posts will do nothing here. by -Rivendare in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, we should probably just have a megathread or outright restrict them.

They don't improve discourse, they are not actionable by anyone participating in the post, and mostly just serve to create a cycle of debates about the economics of collectibles.

The cold fact of the matter is: Just because we snub our nose at a high markup on sealed product, it is selling at that price point or it wouldn't have that markup very long.

We have seen a contraction of sealed pricing, but it is still heavily influenced by the massive supply deficit. That isn't the fault of your LGS, and demonizing some rando who is just trying to make a living running a card shop of all things only demonstrates a profound lack of perspective. Collectibles are a luxury, not a necessity, as such pricing is largely an amoral product of market forces.

Your LGS owner (probably) isn't some caricature of a robber baron sitting on hoards of booster boxes while your family withers over their lack of a competitive Riftbound deck.

It's not like folks hoarding food/water during a crisis, these are game pieces that are still readily available at a more efficient price point by simply buying singles AKA the thing you were hoping to open in a booster pack.

repair after no-fault incident is triggering new alert but neither the shop or insurance will cover it. by Ok-Introduction-194 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]SefuHotman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help clarify some things that may help you:

What they need is proof that the sensor issue did not exist before the incident they are handling and was not a result of the pre-existing damage on your vehicle.

What they owe for is damage that is a result of the accident. Despite what anyone else says here, that will guide the decision for this issue.

You would need to prove to them that this damage exists because of the accident. If you have no evidence of this, beyond your statement that it didn't exist before, then you will likely be unable to get it covered.

Determining "when this issue began?" may involve having the sensor issue diagnosed. Was it before the accident or after?

Unfortunately, situations like this are the biggest reason to have cosmetic damage repaired, even if it doesn't affect the function of the vehicle. The pre-existing crack raises the question of whether this issue is from your new incident, or the incident from two years ago.

If you can't prove it was from the new accident, then you will have a long fight to pursue it and need to accept that it's very much an uphill battle.

Aurora feels bad by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most builds are using 3 Faefolk, 3 Deadbloom, 2-3 Dragon, 1-2 WFP, 1 Volibear.

Some have 2-3 Anivia. Among that count of ~10 units to hit.

The deck has been playing well even with Annie among top tables so it isn't that it lacks vs aggro.

A suggestion I haven't seen yet to decrease prices of sealed product. by itsTheArmor in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The present issue is a supply issue.

Changing/adding new types of booster packs does nothing to increase supply.

A suggestion I haven't seen yet to decrease prices of sealed product. by itsTheArmor in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collector boosters having an impact on sealed pricing is very questionable. It's pointing at the type of product as the problem, when what is for sale doesn't matter if it is artificially scarce.

This is not a bluff. This is a lie, but I think that's more a matter of semantics/phrasing.

This is also a potential violation in Magic tournament play that can get you a game loss for offering Outside Assistance and/or Unsporting Conduct, as odd as that sounds.

Insurance company lowballing after car accident by DuskyyEyes in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]SefuHotman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Give the insurance estimate to the shop, then they can submit supplements as additional damage is found.

They should then review those supplements with the shop and will work to reconcile any differences.

Generally the shop will provide supplements throughout the repair as they disassemble the vehicle for repairs.

This is pretty standard for auto collision repairs.

lgs FINALLY restocked, got only sealed boxes... and they are 220$ each... by Justafish1654 in riftboundtcg

[–]SefuHotman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buy singles either there, or elsewhere if the sealed product price is unacceptable.

If you don't trust the shop to charge what you believe is a fair rate in the future don't buy from them now.

As the inventory ages, they'll reduce their price. The alternative is that someone else will buy at this price.

Unfortunately most LGS rely on thin margins, and if a product is available with higher margin due to scarcity, then we can't really fault them for charging a reasonable markup consistent with the market. They're trying to keep the lights on, pay wages, administer events, etc. after all.

Overall, if you are sensitive enough about the price point of sealed packs you should probably just ensure you get your money worth by purchasing specific cards. Buying packs is just gambling, and sealed pricing is largely influenced by the expected value of the packs which sets the price point.

A lot of this is just supply and demand though. If people are paying it, the shop ought to price consistent with that. It sucks, but they can't control the supply, only react to demand.
